after almost for years and an awesome klov member i finally got my much desired red tent, it seems that more than just a few have been offered up for sale. and not moving very fast.what's the beef with the red tents? take up too much room? boring? too nes like? what says you?

I sold mine a few years ago, and wish I still had it. I've been casually looking for one in my area ever since.

i want one REAL bad i got the PC10 and SN super system so that would complete my set no one down here ever has one for sale, was tempted to have phets shipped down here.

You guys are crazy. I support this 'selling Red Tents' matter. :)

Personally, I think it's one of the coolest Vs. cab availible.

I love mine, I love the versitility of it.

If I could change one thing? I would probably make the instruction cards light up, or a some sort of mini-marquee that was illuminated

..

People finally realizing its a pos and would rather have a NES with 50 games in their home instead :)

They do take up a lot of space but they are unique. I always get questions about it when people come over. What makes the games great are the differences you can't find in the nes versions. Plus, the dualscreened head-to-head/co-op feature is sweet. Balloon Fight is a must have for it.

well honestly I have 3.. noone ever ever EVER plays them..but I doubt I will ever sell them. I know they dont get played and probly never really will but i think of them like artwork.

I love mine, and one day will have one again when I remodel the game room. But it just takes up too much room in my current 11 x 12 space.

I will miss it once it's traded this coming week. :001_ssad:

I like the way they look just not the games they play. Wouldn't mind setting one up to play DK & Jr. but like I said I just don't care for the games. One went at the last auction here in pretty decent shape for $250. I personally wouldn't buy one unless it was extremely cheap. Just my opinion.

IMO the red tent phenomenon is due to 1 or more members here repeatedly mentioning it and hyping it up to others who really had no inclination to search out or buy a red tent. Some may not have even been aware that a red tent existed. All the talk gets people excited and increases demand based on "hype." Often times people find once they have the game in hand that it's not as exciting as it was talked up to be or as they remembered. As a result they sell the game.

The beauty of the Red Tent becomes glowingly apparent the first time you and a friend sit down on opposite sides and play a game of Wrecking Crew or Balloon Fight (haven't played Tennis yet). It really is a cool experience. I wanted one for a while being a cocktail fan and now that I have a handful of games for it I'm even more excited than before I got it. How many games can you say that for?

I think it's just a status symbol craze, similar to people that must have Tron, Temptest, Star Wars, ect... that really never enjoyed the game back then. It's a piece to get recognized for, and to talk about when non arcaders come over and see it. Same goes with the Red Tent, it's unique, and people can't help but notice it. And it can easily play multiple games. Most of the women I know love playing anything Mario, so it'll keep them happy :)

I've been happy with mine, ever since I bought it 2 weeks ago. Except for the damn coin door lock on one side, it's killed the battery on my drill twice and I'm still not through it. Tried the ol' hammer and screw driver trick, that's not working either.

Playchoice/Vs stuff never appealed to me because it just looked like NES games. I went to the arcade for a better experience than console games.

Add that with the fact that I never even saw one of these machines until I got back into collecting a few years ago, the amount of space you need to set them up correctly and their relative homeliness and you wind up with a machine that (for me) is just about a zero on the desirability scale. I'd rather have any pinball machine and just about any dedicated cocktail over any Playchoice/Vs stuff.

I don't mean offense to anyone, its mostly a matter of what you were exposed to in your formative years. I covet Defender, a relatively common game that lots of people hate.

...

I agree. VS system was = to the NES, not better in graphics, sounds, gameplay or anything. I remember playing both Castlevania and Super Mario Bros thinking "WTF, its the same as the NES". So I never played them again.

In other words the cabinet is an ugly as hell eyesore and the games suck.
