I picked this up in my travels. What's up with the Japanese? I am guessing it was a rental due to the VHS type clam shell case. Were they released like this here as a gimmick or did someone import it?

Well, it's not a US cart - that's a Super Famicom cartridge.

It'll play in a Super Nintendo, but it won't fit in the slot because of some little plastic tabs in the console. If you cut out the tabs in the console, you can plug the cartridge in and it'll play - that was the extent of the region lockout on the Super NES...

Just take a pair of needle nose pliers and bend the tabs back and forth until the break off. Be careful, but it's not too difficult. Much better than using one of those converters...man were those a joke - and people were dumb enough to pay the money for them, so more power to the people who cashed in on them...

How about this. Anybody want it? I don't even know what a fair price is to be honest. I have it and a Super Street Fighter 2 in the box (its a bit rough) with instructions as well. They are the only S-NES things I have sitting around. I sold off all the consoles outside of my main collection focus years ago.

Probably not even worth shipping.

Well, I'm on a serious clean up binge so I guess I will circle file that sucker and get rid of a bit more clutter.

Ill pay a few bucks shipping for SSF2 just so I can have the box & manual. You can throw Ultraman in there too if you want, looks like a shitty game though unfortunately...

Lol yeah I played a rom of Ultraman a few years back out of curiosity, man it was lame

I remember Super SF2 being a pretty fun port though

Because of the security chip key/lock thingy, we here in PAL territories needed those piggyback converters to run NTSC games.

I have a converter that will also save game states. Think I paid like $10 on eBay years ago for it. Dont have import games anymore though so its collecting dust.

Well that at least makes sense. I'm talking about the ones that were made specifically to work around those little tabs on the US model.
