Hi guys, I just bought my 1st arcade game (Double Dragon) and I have a few questions about it. Even though it has all the original paperwork, I'm assuming it's not an original cabinet due to the lack of side art, and it having 2 red joysticks instead of a red & blue.

I'm hoping some of you can help a noob understand more about what I just bought, and maybe what kind of cabinet it is.

1. What's this gold thing in pic #1?

2. Is the volume button somewhere in this pic #2?

3. I don't see any fuses? Whats this thing in pic #3?

4. These leads look hard soldered to the cherry micro-switches, is that possible? pic #4

Thanks a million for any help, and or advice!! :)

#1. That is your switching power supply (-5 +5 +12)

#2. No, that is your monitor. Look for a volume pot on your PCB ( game board)

#3. ISO Transformer, provides power to your monitor and power supply

#4. yeah, looks like the wires are soldered to the micro switches. Nothing wrong with that.

1. power supply

2. no, that would be the monitor chassis and neckboard. i'm not familiar with double dragon boards but if it's anywhere, it'll be on the board as a small pot.

3. transformer, most likely for the monitor/marquee light.

4. sure it's possible. you can always unsolder them.

EDIT: missed it by THAT much :p

You lose! Good day sir!

Thanks guys! So if I needed to replace some push buttons, would I just use the existing micro-switches, or would I want to unsolder the connections and use new ones?

If it's a dedicated DD, the volume should be a pot on the game board and the board should be located in a drawer at the bottom of the cabinet.

I would go with new switches since you can get a new pushbutton&switch for nearly the same price as just a pushbutton. Also, you're already in there, why not replace it?

I would cut the soldered wires off the old switches and crimp .187" spades on the wires to connect to the new switch.

Awesome! Thanks!

Look at all that light blue over spray......Bubbles or Moon Patrol. I'm going with Moon Patrol.

Edward

yea I'd have to agree with you. I'm not sure how I missed all that blue. Granted I was looking at it on my cell phone but I still should have caught that.
