What's this really worth?

I can't remember the name of it, but someone makes a drop-in replacement CPU system for these things. Someone will post it I'm sure....

Wonder if I can snipe that at last second for 5$? :p

I could be wrong, but I doubt it will bring even close to that. My concern is the missing flipper buttons.

Huh? What's different about the buttons?

*Edit* Nevermind, I see from the pics they look huge. Man I don't remember that at ALL!

One of the missing flipper buttons is in the coin box. Maybe the other is around too. They were for sale through Marco Specialties at one point, but are currently out of stock and were $140(!) when they were available.

I'd love a project like this if I could get it for a few hundred. I already have a Star Wars and I could use the parts from this to do a swap-out any time, the way Pinball 2000 was intended to be used. Honestly, I'd probably restore the cabinet and use my Star Wars computer & monitor to run it...and Star Wars would become the one being swapped in/out.

The Nucore complete includes a pre-built PC. You can do it WAY CHEAPER then that if you or someone you know can build a PC.

Buy it, I might need a few of those parts.

I hope you can get it cheap.

I talked to those guys before buying my RFM. Give them a call and ask questions, such as if the flippers are both there, etc.

I'd bid on this if it ended earlier. This is located in my home town, and where I'm headed for Christmas. It's tempting, but I don't have the money to plunk down on something you need at least a grand to get working. I even have family there and a place to store it too. Well it aint going for $5. I just bid up to $20- good luck guys.

I'm still researching the availability of the missing parts. If I do get it, I will be putting it back together. Just trying to decide where to set my buying limit.

I think it's worth the sum of its parts. Without the cpu and with rough sideart it's not worth restoring imo. You can sell the pf and cab pretty easily and possibly the untested board.

P2K is a tough platform to find parts for. Many parts are special to that platform. That lockdown bar is likely to be expensive. New playfield glass is also super-expensive as it's specially half-polarized glass that normally goes for about $300. Gene Cunningham has some seconds glass with minor imperfections that he sells at a discount, but it's still $100+ a sheet.

Unfortunately, finding all the parts to restore that game could be more than what it would cost to buy a fully-operational version. And parting it out may not be very profitable either unless you could get the game really cheap - most RFMs are in pretty good condition. It's odd to see one that is a project.

Typically the only item that fails on the pin2k's is the Prism card which 9 out of 10 times can be rebuilt by simply replacing the caps on the board.

This thing is a crap shoot honestly. I think it'll tap $600+. People are quick to see a "cheap" pinball machine but fail to do a cost analysis.
I'd personally stay away from it unless I was looking to restore one (and enjoy doing it) and keeping it. My .02

The replacement system is called Nucore, and you can get it from Pinball Life.

I just got an email from terry and he said a complete nucore system will run $1100 plus you factor in a monitor, flipper buttons, and whatever else might be missing, it's not worth it. I think I will wait for a working example as others have suggested.
