what's the going rate for a complete 25" standard/med res tube and chassis ect.

I recently got my hands on a monitor-less Midway 4 player cab (think it was blitz or one of the 5 nba jam series) I was wondering what the going rate was for a nice 25" standard or medium res monitor complete w/ chassis, tube, frame, ect...

Just wondering if i should try and find a replacement or go with a cga/vga converter and a 25" lcd.

Used or new doesn't matter to me really.

Seems finding a 25" square VGA monitor that isn't widescreen is pretty much impossible (unless i want one of those new arcade LCD monitors which are $$$)

If you want a brand new CRT monitor that can handle CGA, EGA, and VGA, then you need to go with something like this:

http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/49305600.htm

Due to government regulations, they can no longer sell 25" CRT's unless they are digital. So, they get around it by selling 24.8" CRT's. The difference is negligible.

Otherwise, a 100% working standard-res 25" used monitor could be had for anywhere from free to $200, depending on whether it has been rebuilt, has burn-in, etc.

A 100% working medium-res 25" would probably cost you up to $300, depending on the conditions I listed above.

A 100% dual-res would probably go for about the same as the med-res...

Too bad you can't squeeze a 35" in there. I got a few of them and they will switch different modes from VGA to EGA and CGA and it got mutli inputs from composite/SVideo inputs to a couple of VGA inputs. I should build a cab around them one of these days.
another day Another project.

There is a guy on Ebay at the moment selling 2x Nanao 29" Med-Resolution arcade monitors in good working condition in Anchorage, Alaska.

Bid only! http://cgi.ebay.com/Two-29-Nanao-monitors-/270744895072?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f09a73e60

Typically used in Sega games like Daytona, Virtual On, Virtua Fighter.....so on so forth......
If you can squeeze something like that in there.

you are NOT going to be able to squeeze a 29" monitor into 99% of the 25" cabinets out there..

I was able to put a 27" into a 25" cabinet. The ultracade cab was wider than normal. It was quite bit of work to make new monitor mounts. I could measure a nba jam cab thats sitting right next to it, But I would guess its about 1" smaller. I think the 27" would maybe fit like a glove..

here is a video I just found...

hmmm choices choices.... I'm not in a huge rush to get this done but there's some great info here.

The D9800 looks sexy, but seems they're also discontinued. I'm starting to feel like getting a used 25" will prolly be the route i take tho :(
