Whats the easiest game you have that still kick's your a**?

Berzerk - 11k is my high score. Robots just shoot too fast around this level. Even with the player's guide I can't get any better.

My high on Galaga is 1,032,000.

I don't get how anyone plays Galaga that long and their arm doesn't fall off. Guess it's a skill thing. That game I had a quarter million points, I fired 2226 shots, and 1180 hits....53% accuracy, lol....

For me, it's Berzerk. I don't know what the difficulty is set on, but I can't at least reach 15000 points.

I don't think Berzerk has a difficulty setting, although there are 2 ROMsets, slow bullets and fast bullets. I don't know enough about the game to know the difference, but Steve W would know (assuming he sees this thread). I think you need to get a ways into the game before you can tell the difference.

Pac-Man.

In my 30 years of playing it, and 10 years of owning it, I have still never reached the first key, without a speedup chip.

I've just never gotten around to memorizing the patterns.

donkey kong

i could stay for hours on defender, stargate, robotron, but forget about donkey kong and donkey kong jr. for some reason i could never master those. none of my friends could ever understand this!!

That seems to be a common problem. Pattern players (Donkey Kongs, Pac games, etc.) seem to do poorly in random play games (most Williams produced games (Defender, Stargate, Robotron, etc.)). And vice versa.

In the slow bullets version the robots can only have 2 shots on the screen at any time and once you cross 5k, Otto moves 2x as fast as you if you have no robots on the screen, which means the game strategy is entirely different than that of the fast bullets ROMs where it is all about early stage survival and Otto is essentially harmless.

On the slow bullets version, the opposite is true, you leave robots around at times so you can just get to the other side of the room. If you get a room with 2, 1 or even zero robots in it on the slow bullets ROM.....RUN to an exit, any exit. The slow bullets will allow for survival when entering a room from any side, that is not the case in fast bullets on the higher levels.

And in answer to the thread question, I don't know if it's easy or not, but Missile Command is the game that kicks my ass. I think my best is like 35-40k.

For me it's Asteroids Deluxe. In my defense, my machine has the earlier "hard" version that was so brutal that Atari did a later revision to make the game easier.
