I was buying cap kits for a couple of other monitors and figured it would be a good idea to buy kits for a Virtual On Twin setup I just picked up.

Looking around it seems I've got a Nanao MS9-29... however some places seem to say there are variations in the caps between the MS9-29A and MS9-29T I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the two.

Here are the pics of the one I've got:

any idea what I should be looking for to determine which version I've got?

?

Does both chassis use the same parts?

Like all the same Ic's
Same Flyback part #
Same Yoke and same CRT
both chassis have the same uf caps being used?
Part locations the same on both chassis?
Are both chassis running at the same resolution?
Notice a visual difference between the pcb or parts used?
Check with chad on the flyback #

I don't know, that's why I'm asking :p

From what I can tell they use the same flyback, but as for the rest of it, I'm clueless.

I'll check with arcadecup.com, thanks.

Call the company back and tell them which fly you have

maybe that will get the ball rolling.

Post your cap kit list and as the thread goes it may be more obvious Later.

I have a list of caps if you like i can send it over so if your going to

be repairing chassis you can stock what you need..

I contacted Ken Westerfield of http://www.irepairsega.com about an unrelated question... I mentioned that I was trying to ID the monitors and he had this to say:

These should be MS9-29SU. I'm thinkin you're going to have a tough time locating a cap kit for it. I would just go thru it and make a list. Then purchase them individually from wherever you buy caps from. I'm sure it will clean it up a lot.

That's probably what I'll do, I wont be getting to this for a while as I've got 2 other monitors I'm rebuilding and this Virtual On screen works fine for now so I'll enjoy it for a while before tearing it apart.... When I do I'll post up the cap list and locations ;)
