Ok so I finally got a Gyruss and it's awesome. According to the arcade flyer a gyruss bezel is supposed to be in the position so it looks like a "U". Mine was facing the other way and every single Gyruss for sale on Ebay has the bezel facing downward instead of being in the U shape. Could that
many Gyruss bezels be wrong??? Which way is correct?

I have heard the U is correct, however I think it looks like ass that way. So mine is the other direction!!

There's a cardboard shroud that goes around the monitor, and covers up the two speakers located just above the control panel, and just below the monitor. If you put it where it's an upside down "U", it makes it easier to see the shroud as it covers the speakers... so placing it as a "U" helps mask the cardboard boxes that cover up the speakers.

That is true, but I think it looks weird on the top:eek:

Yea I have mine in the U shape now. Its just so weird that there are like 4 for sale on ebay and every single one has the bezel in the "n" shape instead of the "u" shape. When I picked up mine this weekend it was upside down as well. I hate thats its a cardboard bezel anyway...would have been much cooler if the artwork was actually on the plexi.

That is funny... all 4 Gyruss's on ebay have their bezel upside down.

It's so prevalent that I have a suspicion that Centuri may have sent many of them out that way. I've seen them upside down on a couple machines that were in pristine condition and likely untouched (never monkeyed with).

Looking at the artwork... there is nothing that screams "this must be THIS WAY"... it appears to look "right" either direction frankly. That said, in the wrong direction you'd have a bunch of upside down crosses on the bezel.

:D

You can tell by the art, the 'stars' have long tails on them, when artists draw them that way the long tail always goes down. Think "star of betleham" scenes, etc. Also the planet looks strange upside down.

You're not looking hard enough... there's plenty of screaming. :D
Check out the shading on the planets, and the planet with the rings. Compare that with the ones on the CPO.

It's funny... I was going to mention the Star of Bethlehem but I figured this is KLOV so... ;)

Yea its not something you would really notice unless you were a nerd like one of us. The planet looks normal to me in either position...I think the cross shaped stars look correct in the "U" shape though. I guess Konami/Centuri didn't have much quality control back then
