Whats the deal with games being converted out of Joust cabs?

Looks like every where I turn my head I see converted Joust cabs. Ive owned 3 thats was converted from Joust. I am also goin to pick up a game this week thats in a Joust cab. Was Joust just so popular they made a shit ton if them and operators just wanted them gone so they stuck any game into them? Has anyone else seen this trend?

Joust didn't make much money after a while, so operators converted them. And, it's a nice, solid horizontal cabinet.

Defender made money... for a while. But then when that game got old they got converted. For whatever reason Defender likes to end up as Track 'N Field.

Kangaroo is another one that gets converted a lot.
