What's the coolest thing another collector has done for you lately?

MrBill2084 forgave Jehuie, that means a lot to me.

mannOmann (Mike) hooked me up with a nice burn free k7000 drop-in replacement tube. He spliced in the proper yoke connector, and, hell, he even carried it to my vehicle for me. hgloth (Harry) also gave me a spare k4900 frame he had.

They are just really awesome people. I can't say enough nice things about both of them.

Recently: redelf attended my last arcade party. I had three games down and he helped me troubleshoot and fix all of them. One of them was Joust, which turned out to be a 4116 RAM error. He drove home to fetch a spare Joust parts board he had, came back, and swapped out the bad RAM for one from his board and my Joust was back up and running. Didn't ask for anything. (He never does.) He did set the 54-hour-long marathon world record on this machine in this same room back in 2010, though, so maybe he felt compelled to fix it. In any event I'm buying him dinner next time I see him.

Over the last 6-1/2 years: Oryk Zinyo, who is also local to me, has spent countless hours tackling repairs for me over the years, some of them fairly involved. He never asks for payment but I make it a point to pay him something roughly every other visit (especially if significant time was involved) in addition to buying dinner at a local Mexican restaurant if he has the time. Many games have been fixed and much Carne Asada has been consumed. :)

Of all the people on Klov you had to say something nice about those two ?

GameFixer and Robmcgraph were both directly responsible for helping me get my Pole Position repaired. Rob sold me parts on the cheap, and GameFixer answered every idiot question I asked.

I forget the name, but I also got an Asteroids cp at a meet-up for the pittance I could afford. I found a pack of brand new tie down straps, and added them to what little cash I had.

I've got a few pending, too. Lots of great people on here!

Everyone that's helped me in my restoration threads with idiotic and basic questions, especially recently with troubleshooting my Asteroids display woes.

Some I can think of right away are andrewb, vertexguy, cwilbar, but others that have posted stuff found in the archives like d0kert have been invaluable as well.

It's Buffett and DNS for me.

I met Buffett at DNS's house years ago and he has just always been really cool and helpful on monitor issues. I've sent things to him for repair and I buy supplies from him but he seems just as happy to walk me through things when I'm stumped (which is most of the time). Yay Buffett.

DNS is just a monster when it comes to finding games. He did a Q*Bert restore for me. Sure I paid him but he didn't have to do it. He gave me a lock plate for a Nintendo game and those are hard to find. It's just cool to see people who are legitimately into the hobby, not just trying to make a buck.

Good dudes.

Also want to mention

NFLPatriots, who isn't around as much these days but was really cool to work with on PCB issues and

Adam from OneCircuit who puts up those super-helpful videos and agreed to look at my Japanese DK board. Adam is maybe the best teacher I've ever come across on the boards.

Lots of good people on here. They outweigh the bad ones by a ton.

Recently, Mike (behrmr) and I drove 3 hours and back to pick up an Alpine Ski cabinet for me. I received a PM from a member that had one for sale, texted Mike and asked if he wanted to tag along, half kidding. He said "hell yeah" and even offered to drive. Next thing I know, we are headed to Columbus in his pick up truck on a Sunday afternoon to pick up my Alpine Ski. I guess I did treat him to a Wendy's hamburger on the way home.

I was going to post how nice you were for letting me go with you so I could hang with the cool kids for once in my life.

Kris Gack and I were planning on going to last year's Brofest. I booked a cottage and then found out I couldn't make it. I lost out on my deposit for the room and told Gack to not worry about it because he was going anyway and found another room.

Grinkfest rolls around and Gack comes up to me with a bag of Brofest goodies including the T-Shirt to make up for the deposit. Totally unexpected and awesome.

KLOV is filled with good folks and, as we all know, Gack is one of the best.

MarkH sent me Dag Springs for a 6100 monitor and then followed up with a Speaker Grill for my Space Wars restoration. All without asking for a penny in compensation. Its people like that that make the hobby fun. I shall try to pay it forward in recognition of his generosity. It will have to wait for a few days however as I am about to get slammed with my recurrent simulator training and I'm fighting the worst cold I have had in years. Thanks for asking the question.

I'd like to give a shout out to my buddy Gregafree.

I'm having a party with some friends next weekend, and my Ms. Pac-Man's PCB was starting to reset and act flaky. It's always a drag when you have people over and a game (especially a popular one) is on the fritz.

So, even though Greg wont be around to attend the party (yes, he was invited!), he is letting me borrow a Pac-Man Plus PCB so a game in the Pac-family can still be played out of my Ms. Pac cab for the party!

Thanks again, dude! :)

Kyle

The guy who came to my house to buy a game and paid asking price and emailed me a list of another 10 games he'd be interested in once I'm ready to sell insteald of lowballing me.

Oh wait, he was from CL, not KLOV....

Jenn May, don't think she is on here, but she is on facebook. She just bought out a local storage unit, couldn't get it all on the truck and called me up and gave me the rest, she wasn't going to be able to make it back and she knew my family could really use the money I could make off whatever was still in there (I have been stuck as a stay at home parent for four years now because we literally can't afford to both work, but the credit card balance has been sliding slowly upward the entire time, and I don't think they are going to increase my limit again and it is still a year until I can reasonably go back to work).
Yep. She's pretty awesome. I was buying a game in Nashville and she happened to be at the guys place and offered to deliver it to St. Louis for me. I've never met her or anything and this saved me a weekend away from my kid! Also, Kidrivers is always there when I have questions about anything. It's nice to have these local folks to talk with, especially being so new to the hobby.

Oh, and I got this from Jenn while she was on her giant road trip:

When I first joined her I believe Bungy sent me an orange Nintendo button for free.
