Whats the best way to ship Pcb's? Torn to shreds...

Alright man... who is it? Fellow KLOVian? Is that why you've not outted the douchebag? That is just ridiculous to ship like that... absolutely ridiculous.

and to make matters worse, everything in the box is getting wet with teardrops

HAHAHAHHA

Quit yer griping- at least he threw a few spare components and stickers in the bottom of the box-

ahhahahahah

How much are you out? You didn't think any of that crap worked BEFORE he shipped it, did ya?

I emailed the guy on ebay this morning and this is what I said.

Hi I recently won three of your auctions. I have now received all three of the shipments in the mail. I can only describe the pcb's as completely destroyed from the worst/unprotected shipping I have ever seen. All three of the auctions are NOT AS DESCRIBED in no way shape or form! I can not understand for the life of me, why you would ship those pcb's like that? You didn't get your collection where it is on ggdb.com from buying items shipped like that. Where do you get off selling them and then shipping like that to a fellow collector? I am trying to have a decent collection like yours as well! This is truly sad what you have done! Do you care to explain and rectify this sad situation immediately some how?

I apologize, for any inconvenience, this wasn't my intention. Which ones are a problem? I did not pack these as I was away on business and, had someone
else doing the packing. I explained the way I wanted them packed however;
if you want something done right I guess I have to do it myself. Please
explain what is destroyed and, what do you propose? I can give you a partial
refund or, something. Let me know and, again I am sorry. I am sure we can
figure something out as I feel we are both honest and, fair
people.
Well he answered right up see above. That's a positive thing. Not quite sure what would be fair because of all the damage across all three lots of boards.

What do you guys think would be fair? I have almost 200.00 in all these pcb's.

See? It'll work out.

Decide what's important to you. You got an apology for starters.
Now you can get a discount or you could see if he has other items you have interest in for remedy.

Shitty packing but the seller is going about it in the right way. I would look carefully at what is damaged and what is not and come up with some kind of a partial refund situation.

If it were me, I'd return all the PCB's... ask for a full refund including the cost of shipping the boards back to the guy. Bottom line is that you don't know what parts fell off what board...

I always make sure my auctions on Ebay end while I am out of town. That way I can have my 6 year old pack things up for me and have a brilliant excuse for when the buyer complains....

I also like to send messages saying the pinball machine you just bought caught fire, then when you ask to see it, I claim my son sent the email!

<sarcasm off>

He was being lazy (which has happened to everyone before) and you called him on it. At least he is offering to make it (partially) right.

So you're out $200? I'd ask for a $150 refund and keep all that. You still might be able to salvage something...

That sounds reasonable to me...unless he's got something else you want. What a garbage deal. If you're "out of town", then don't hold an auction, or e-mail the buyer and state that you'll ship it when you get back. I'd hold off on feedback until the deal's done, but even if the seller agrees to help you out, you shouldn't leave anything better than "neutral". Just make sure you watch your dates because you can only leave feedback for so long and you can only only dispute with Paypal for so long as well. The seller might be banking on that...

Thanks guys for all your input. Here is my response.

Well sir the atari lot and the nintendo lot are a complete loss except the top board out of each shipment. The two top pcb's could not get ground/sanded/tore up like the other pcb's below them. These are truly a mess. The midway boards... Hum, I just don't know where start with all the damage. Cap's are smashed, chips are ripped up, traces are cut, sockets are destroyed. The damage just goes on and on... So that's kinda where I am at tonight. I can certainly provide pictures. I all ready have a quite a few snaps up on one of my websites. These are just general shots and you can see the damage is extensive. I wasn't even trying to get detailed with them. So at this point I would call this whole ordeal an almost complete loss. I am fair man and I am sure you are too. Shoot me a fair deal so we can work this out.

Good answer! Once I saw the pictures I was ready to tell you to just document all the boards and give him an opportunity to make it right. My guess is that most of the boards are a total loss except as a chance to practice your desoldering and soldering skills.

I feel your pain. I recently had a board shipped to me that was a two layer board stack. It was wrapped in one layer of thin bubble wrap so that when the post office placed the bowling ball on top, it caved the box in and made a 7-10 split on the top board. Fortunately I didn't have much money tied up in it because the listing now has a nice note from Ebay that says: "eBay Note: This user is no longer registered on eBay.". So I guess it won't matter much about the feedback I would have left...

I have the right tools now for the soldering / desoldering but I think these are now a little beyond my skills Ken.

I think the only thing I purchased to date besides these was James jrok board that arrived and scared me bad. That usps box was down right abused lol. The jrok works like a champ and never got any damage on it tg. James did well in shipping those. In fact your shipping Ken is not that shabby either... I seem to remember!

The first pac board I shipped had me worried sick about it the whole time. I had that sucker in two boxes and all kinds of bubble wrap. I went above and beyond the call of duty on that one.

Sorry for the dearly departed on the williams board. Im sure that is what your bought! :D

Matter a fact I need to get some more williams boards. I had to sell all mine because I was broke. They now reside in Australia!

I wasn't expecting them to work when you were done. That would be a serious bonus. It is just a good idea to practice on chips you don't care about until you learn how to pull the solder off without lifting the traces or cracking the chips (I am guilty of both on occasion, thankfully much less now than years ago).

So that's what happened to the deal I was working on with Danz....I thought I had pissed him off or something :).

Well I sent that last email through ebay yesterday when I got off work. I still have not heard one thing from this guy.

I went ahead and open up all three cases on ebay. Maybe I didn't wait long enough for him to contact me back. Maybe I did but who's to say what pace this cat rolls at.
