I have room left in my game room for one more machine and I would like a sit down cockpit type racer. What is the best for long term playability? Any input?

Thanks

I would like to find a cruisin. I have an offroad thunder near me, but have never played that. Not sure if that is any good.

Thanks for the input!

Another thing you might want to consider instead driving game, is Battle Mech type of game. Those can be alot of fun.

If you are looking at drivers, I like the rush series _much_ more than the cruisin' series...
just my $.02

I must admit Rush is great.. I 'm hooked on Cruisin though :) I remember that game with the music and the guy singing 'CRUISIN... Cruisin USA' lol.

I'll second that. I bought my San Francisco Rush on impulse at an auction. Then found that I liked it too much to part with it, and later upgraded it to Rush the Rock.

If you can afford it... Initial D and Wangan Maximum Tune as well as the Ferrari 355 Challenge game (the one seater with 3 monitors) are the best arcade racers. I love racing games and will take almost anything over a cruisn game (usa i have a warm spot for) and a lot of the other carbon copy racers.

I'd much rather have a nice racing sim setup with a pc or 360/forza 3. You can get wheels that actually have a usable cluch and 6 slotted shifters etc. I'd recommend a logitech g25 wheel and a playseat xl with the Race GTR series on pc. However the 360 is getting force feedback wheels that are worth a crap now that forza 3 has came out.

My friend just runs it through his lcd tv in the basmeent but the tools are out there to go crazy like this...

If I were looking for a keeper and the last piece to my game room I would have to go with a Rush 2049. Will probably be expensive but it's a great game IMO.

We have two linked Cruis'n Worlds that we upgraded to Exoticas, and we love them.

Young and old enjoy playing the games ...... they get the most play in our gameroom.

Last summer at the LA SuperAuction they were selling working twin drivers for $25. These were mostly 1990s era games. Auctions are a pretty good place to pick these things up because not everyone has the space.

Ones I like are (and most of these are not going to be $25):

Daytona USA
Fast and Furious
Cart Fury (not many were made, and this can also be converted to other games with a kit).
Rush the Rock 2049
Out Run 2
Hydro Thunder
Arctic Thunder
Indy 500 (can be converted to Sega Touring Car Championship)
