I have an Astro City cabinet I want to do something with and I was wondering what, in your experience, were the best horizontal and vertical multi PCBs.

I am not too into fighting games but I do still play them. I am more of a late 70's - mid 80's guy.

Not really a purist with regard to sound quality but smooth play would be a good thing.

Oh yeah... the cab has a 2 player control panel with 1 joystick and 6 buttons per player.

Thanks.

I've heard that the xxxx-1 boards are pretty good as well as the game box boards. Nixs has them here. both are horz based and would require your setup per player. all depends on how much work you want to do and how inclined you are.

If it is wired for six buttons I would say any of the SNK multi boards are out unless you wanted to drill and wire up a fourth button along the top. Either that or go through the hassle of swapping around your button quick disconnects everytime you wanted to play an SNK game that needed the fourth button.

If you are already wired for six buttons you could always go for the Capcom CPS2 18 in 1. Or if you like the classics I hear good things about the Taito multi boards and I am considering a purchase of one myself.

multi

I picked up a multicade a couple of months back that had the 465-1 Baby Star in it. It has all the games from the 60-1 and then another 405 games. Lots of other classics like Gorf and others and a ton of vertical shooters. It is a little bizarre how some games are quite loud and others are not, but I have not messed with the settings much yet. I have enjoyed playing a lot of games I don't have like Commando, Gals Panic, etc.

i have a xxxx in 1. got mine from jammaboards.com Nix is also a great guy to buy these and any multi board from as was said up above.

anyway, mine has 1315 games on it and i love it. they are prettymuch a plug and play mame so you can add more games and such. they are a bit pricey at around $360 or so but well worth it.

i just recently got the last upgrade... ( KE edition ). it added alot of games i love. robotron, defender, killer instinct 1 and 2, demolition derby, crazy climber 1 and 2, tron, discs of tron, mk 1,3 and ultimate 3 and a bunch more. now the only prob i got is i gotta add a spinner and a trackball.....lol.

Where's the love??? :) Hey I have just started carrying the xxxx in 1 boards with KE hard drive installed, 300 shipped. I was playing around with one and I test them all before shipping. They are a lot of fun, the menus make sense, and it was easy to get going. The adapter is a Jamma adapter with a kick harness for buttons 5 and 6 so they are plug and play in Jamma Cabs. The only draw back is that you need an ATX power supply in addition to the regular switcher. Also remember that the versions of this board before the KE drive stretched all the vertical classics to the full width of the horizontal screen... So they all look distorted. The KE version of games fixed this problem.

For smaller collections of just classics I prefer the AS board to the multicade, but that's me being a snob. Almost every machine I've sold has the Icade in it, but my machine at home has the AS board. I just like the menu so much better, and if you are only going to do one machine for yourself you might as well smile.

I do not have a candy cab...yet...but I can guarantee I will have an xxxx in 1 KE drive in mine when I get one :)

don't buy the happy fish multi game. Audio was wrong and the video was choppy..

60 in 1 is good.
neo 1 slot with the 150 in 1 should be good (I have a 100 in 1)

if you want to play the fighting games, I would suggest the cps 18 in 1.

Have you heard anything about the 150 -1 in a 2 slot? I have a 2 slot cab and 150 -1 on the way?

sorry, I have not. I think people have posted it works in a multislot but you can't access the other slots. Thats why I like the 100 in 1. once you select the game, it acts like that 1 cart in a multislot.

Oh cool...thanks for the info. I have heard a few different things so I wasn't real sure. I heard on the 4 slots it depends which slot you put it in or different game combs cause problems. I'll be happy to mess with it when they both arrive so I can test it out. :)
