Whats the best monitor ?

G07
WG 4900
WG 4600
K7000

Pros and Cons ?

I personally prefer the K7000. Easy to recap. Has the ability to swap to different sized tubes. They seem to be found in many games.

Electrohome G07. Personally, I hate the K7000 monitors. The G07 is much easier to work on. My distaste for the K7000 is primarily due to how many different variations there are, the wide number of different HOT's and voltage regulators. Also, when something in that monitor goes, it tends to take out both the HOT and the VR.

The G07 is much easier to recap, easy to get parts for, and they're all the same, no funny versions. Once rebuilt, they're very stable, and have a very good picture.

I like 4900's
pro's: Reliable and the flybacks really last.
con: Sometimes they need some solder joints touched up

After working on thousands of the above mentioned chassis, the GO7 was the best built, least complicated and hands down the most reliable monitor ever made.
The 7000 had piss poor trace design, the 4900 was piss poor in the 130 volt trace section and the 4600 was an epic fail in design.

Here's my list of faves:
K4900 - just a good solid well designed chassis , reliable.
G07 - same as above, I am just more fond of the 4900. In my experience I have found the 4900 to be more common.
Sanyo 20EZ - one of the best , harder to work on but I love 'em.
K6100 - I have a thing for this monitor. When cleaned up and bulletproofed they are a thing of beauty.

Most hated:
Zenith built K7000 - K7610 etc... Just don't like 'em ,different parts, no fly available, not reliable
Hantarex MTC 900E - junk, of the ones I've repaired most if not all had reveresed polarity parts installed from the factory, and when verifying found some models to have misprinted nomenclature. (silk screen)
Disco 19" - Don't get me started. No fly available.
G07 CAO - just flat out don't like 'em, I know it's weird, it's the CBOs older brother but I just don't like 'em. I am not amused by the lack of adjustments.

I thought the flybacks were no longer available.

G07 - Generally a pretty solid monitor. Highly repairable and a pretty damn nice picture. Can't get much better. Even one in really bad shape can usually be fixed with a kit from Bob Roberts.

4600 - About the same in my book but bad solder joints and questionable placement of components (namely, the two whoopie boards).

4900 - I get along with them fine. See above comment.

I presently have one each of G07, 4600 and K7000 and also two of the 4900. I think that G07 and 4600 are probably about as classic as the games that use them.

Edit: I do have two K7000's. One of them doesn't work and has lived on my back porch for the last 4 years. Easy to forget.

I have a G07 CFO in my Karate Champ. It is most definitely a different version of the standard G07.

Very few of you have had the chance to see what kind of a picture a new GO7 with a perfect tube produces. I have one in my restored Journey machine and i can tell you there is no other monitor out there that can touch it.

Personally, I like the K7000. Yes it has many variations. The 19K7600 had a smaller neck size. The 19K7900 is my personal favorite. Standard sized neck, easy to find, and the newest of the choices you gave so it usually has little to no burn in. Yes, the flybacks occasionally go out and they usually take the voltage regulator and/or hot with them. But after a shotgun repair/recap with a new repro flyback, you should have a pic that was better than the original. At least Bob Roberts said the repro flybacks he sells are sharper than the factory ones. Plus, if you pick the K7000, you only have to know about 1 type of chasis if your running 19 and 25" games. When picking a 25" games, I look for K7000 monitors specifically since it is one of the most reliable easy to find 25" monitors out there. As for the G07, they have a very nice, bright picture when they are right, but it seems they are super prone to having the flybacks crack/leak. And I seem to recall that both the G07, and K4900 have a tendency to roll on certain games. However, the k4900 is very solid and reliable, just like the K4600 But I am by no means an expert.
So to recap:
G07: Great pic, simple design, bad flybacks
K7000: Younger monitor, good quality, more difficult repair, less burn in
K4900: Very long lasting monitor, usually a lot of burn in
K4600: Develop bad solder joint at daughterboards, last forever and ever...and ever, horrible burn in since they never seem to die.

If you have the ability to swap crt tubes, the G07 or K4600 would be your best bets. But I would pick the K4600 over the G07 since almost every G07 chassis I ever saw for sale was dead from a bad flyback. If you can't swap tubes, look for a K7000 or a nice condition K4900.

I currently have 3 Burn-Free G07's working. One in my Berzerk, one in my Gorf, and one in my Burgertime. I agree, awesome picture. The CFO in the Karate Champ is burn free as well, just needs a chassis rebuild.

The only one I have experience with is a 4600 and it's problematic. Not to mention the F601 I need replaced Bob Roberts is out of and has been for some time.He said they've been on backorder for years.So.....I can't exactly say parts for it are easy to find,at least this particular part.

you need to clarify your question. If your talking picture quality only, I would say
1:nanao
2:hantrex polo
3:wells k7000 (certain models)
4:wells k4600
5:G07
6:neotech

if your talking repair:
1:G07
2:wells k7000
3:wells k4600
4:nanao
6:neotech
5:hantrex polo

Personally I go with hantrex polo and k7000. As long as chad can fix them, I will use them.. If I could find more nice condition nanaos, I would use more of them..

I'm not sure if they are, however they do not fail very often. If and when one does fail you shouldn't have trouble finding a parts chassis to pull another one from.
Chad @ arcadecup has them available and that's where I got mine. The 4900 in my Q*Bert had a bad flyback and I'm glad to have a brand new one.

Personally I think the G07 is probably the best monitor. The ones I've rebuilt look great and damn near brand new. The only thing I wish was different was the HOT....I don't like changing it out compared to other transistor packages. I've also had pretty good success with the K7000 series.

Thanks for the advice .

To clarify my question ,

"if you could choose any monitor you'd put in your favorite game that has a great picture and is reliable , built well , not too much of a pain to fix , which would be the overall best ."
