What's the appeal of minis?

I do remember seeing maybe two or three stuck in places like bars and convenience stores BIID.

It seems like they were always a bit lost amongst the clutter though, because of their size. I played Galaga and Pac-Man cabarets at bars when I was a kid, and both were stuck in forgotten corners; both also had their volumes turned waaaaaay down. And they were in shabby condition.

There was a need for cabarets back in the day. They were lighter and smaller than normal cabs and could fit in places that normal cabs did not.

I have a centipede and stargate cabaret. Centipede is a solid game.

Mini's are cool in a bedroom or other parts of a house where theres not much space . They seem to fit in better with furniture , not stick out so much .

Any mini/cabaret/trimline haters selling in New England area, let me know. I'm buyin'.

I like the little ugly ones. Less competition!

I think this thread calls for the Centipede pic.
Oh allright, twist my arm... ;)

And from last month's arcade party...

I don't think that is really NOS, do you? If not, I like to support Rich when I can.
No, it is repro (as Rich's will be). I have only ever seen 1 or 2 other (NOS) sets for sale other than the one on my machine. I'm in for Asteroid's Deluxe and Missile Command when Rich does those, but I have not even been able to get a response to multiple status update PMs.

Pac and Ms Pac were good looking minis. Tempest and Centipede really work. Battlezone is interesting.. Even though the BZ upright with the scope is classic, it's one of the worst classic cabinets to move. The BZ mini has the neat cardboard bezel artwork, with the same gameplay. I tend to favor the uprights because of the art package, but some of the minis look just as good, if not better.

For a little insight into the world of minis look no further.

And yes, I am a fan of the little guys. I like the rarity, ease of movement, and small footprint. The only times I don't like them is when the lose a crucial part of the "package" like extra lights or blacklight backgrounds.

I love minis!

I would love to have a full room of moppets and other minis like galaga/monaco/Tempest/leprechaun/B. Bears/ so on so forth!

It's a silly technicality, but I don't think Moppets qualify as minis. :D

Moppets were built small for children, and had games themed for children. Minis are smaller versions of larger machines which were built for space-saving reasons.

I can understand why Moppets are collectable, though. They're pretty unique in the arcade world, and they're a challenge to find...
