Anybody know what the actual screen resolution would be in Disc Tron ?

When I look at the MAME info whenever I start this game, it says 800x600 on mine, and 254 colors dynamic

But when I look in the cabinet, it has a G07-CBO Monitor in there.
From what I read on KLOV, this is still standard resolution monitor

And this can't really handle 800x600 according to the Klov info on here

Can anyone clarify this ?

thanks !

weird, mine says 540x480

are you running the actual rom or just going based on the MAME MAWS entry? cause I've found that to be wrong a lot.

I was looking at an old version of Mame. I didn't know there was another way of checking this.

I happen to be looking at the text screen that first appears when you start the game. The one where it tells you what processor chip and speed and any other sound chips that are being used. And at the bottom it tells you the game's screen resolution.

So I don't know where it retrieves this info from, the actual Rom, or the MAME MAWS entry.

Still, 540x480 doesn't sound like a standard resolution monitor, or is it since these are RGB monitors ?

What you are reading is what resolution you are running the game at, not the native resolution of the game.

I'm quite sure that is the native res. MAME just scales it to whatever resolution you're running at. if that was the res it was running at it would be grossly mis-proportioned. (press F12 for a screenshot and check the /snap folder, you'll see)

unless you're referring to the 800x600. 800x600 would not be a res for Discs of Tron, obviously.

Yeah, I was talking about 800x600. Sorry about that should of been more clear.

Discs of Tron arcade runs at 15.1Khz CGA standard-res.

I've never had to adjust my MAME to run a program on a computer monitor...

yes, I mentioned that I have a G07 in the cab, which is that type of monitor you described.

So on MAME it's definitely not referring to the actual hardware, but just whatever resolution the game emulation it's running on the PC. I also checked the MAWS database and it says 512x480, I guess my version of MAME was even older.

So basically for this game, the screen resolution of the actual hardware is more on the order of 320x240 for a CGA standard res monitor from looking at this webpage on here.

I suppose the # of colors in the MAWS database still matches the actual hardware.

Well, I'm trying to use the KLOV database to look at what games use Standard res and what games would use Medium res monitors.

I have a suspicion that this bit of information about monitors has not been updated accurately.

I just checked the Mortal Kombat 3 from 1995. I recall this game and I find it hard to believe it uses a standard-res monitor as stated on the KLOV webpage. I looked in somebody's cab once and no way did it look like a CGA monitor.
