What do you think is more important for a MultiVector CP?

Can't most of the spinner games (Star Trek, Space Fury) be played well with the buttons?

And Quantum uses a trackball -- but I would think an analog joystick game like Tailgunner would play pretty well with a trackball as well.

Any opinions?

Spinner... Tempest, Major Havoc and Star Trek. Actually, one of the issues I thought about with multi-vectors is the huge array of controls the games used. I'd definitely want the dedicated Asteroids/Space Duel/Gravitar layout, but I'd also want twin sticks for Black Widow. Add the spinner and you're heading toward a pretty big kludge for a control panel.

I could actually live without the trackball, I think Quantum is a stinker!

Trackballs can be used as spinners.... spinners can not be used as trackballs. If you had to have only one...I'd go with the trackball. But spinners take up suck little room I'd have both.

I can't imagine trying to play Tempest with a trackball.

I don't know of a vector game that uses a trackball?

I originally thought trackball... but have changed my opinion...

The problem with using Tempest as your driver for the spinner choice (which I think most people do), is that the majority of vector games are horizontal in orientation. Tempest and Tac Scan are the only two vertical games (I think). Playing tempest on its side or fit vertically into a horizontal oriented monitor is really a killer for me.

So just looking at the horizontal games... the Segas are spinner games so majority rules for me. I personally think a trackball is definitely useable for a spinner, and if Quantum is a must have for you... then the trackball is the way to go. Also although I've never played Major Havoc with its native roller I am guessing that a trackball may work better for Major Havoc than a spinner? (complete speculation on my part).

For me ideally I would really want trackball, tailgunner analog stick, two 8 ways and the necessary buttons for Space Duel/Asteroids. But I think that would be but-ugly so I decided to go with the Shilmover/Spacies design layout.

Tail gunner might be hard with a trackball, but I would have to try it to be sure.
