Whats making my monitor do this?? (Pac Man Cocktail)

On this Pac Man cocktail, the colors are bleeding/fading. I have tried two different boards, same result and two different monitors, both end up with color issues. The colors are fading and bleeding. Its hard to show the fading text, but think of the text on Gyruss, it kinda looks like that. The monitor I am working with is a fully rebuilt G07 with a brand new tube, and I tried a K4900 to see if the problem went away, and sure enough the colors actually looked worse! Im kinda stumped, I dont know what to try.

(Oh, and ignore the green maze, thats not an issue. Thats Pac Man Plus.)

You thinking its a board issue or a monitor issue? Hard to tell from your description and and those pics excactly what's going on.....midway cocktails have some issues with degausing? Is that a possiility?? Have you tried a manual degausing?

I dont think its either a board nor a monitor issue. Doesnt need to be degaussed (well, it does but thats not the issue), as the issue happens on both monitors. Look at the pink ghost specifically, and the choppiness of the maze lines. Shadowing I guess is the best way to put it.

What else is left? You have another machine to test the monitor in? You have another game to test the board in??? You getting the proper voltages where they should be going into the PCB, and into the monitor?

Is your grounding solid? This is the kind of artifacting one can expect from improperly terminated video, but if you have tried multiple boards and monitors then it's hard to say.

I suspected the power supply, but power supplies arent my forte. I guess what I am trying to find is someone whos had this issue and what they did to remedy it.

For the record, I fixed it. It was a short in the solid orange slam switch wire.

Yeah, I dont get it either.....

Good to know....not sure I'd of guessed that one. Being you eliminated the board, and the monitor as the source, HAD to be something in the cab....how'd you find that?

I moved the cabinet while it was on and I saw the monitor flash momentarily and I jiggled the coin door and all the sudden it worked again. That's when I found a wire that had been caught in the door at one point and the coating had been ripped off. Bingo.
