What's in your Juke? What would you put in your Box?

What songs are a must have for you? Do they remind you of the arcade, playing with Lego's, that warbled sound from your Walkman? Did you hear those tunes on the radio, MTV, on record, 8-Track?

I'm a big music fan and have recently realized that my new favorite toy is the Firestar. I love trying to find all of those songs that remind me of times past and listening to them in my little room of memories. But the problem is - I know I'm not thinking of many songs I would like to hear out of the old box.

So, I would like to see your playlists; in text form or snap a pic of your title strips. Or, just list a few songs that would most definitely be in your juke - even if you don't have one. Here is my current songlist - along with my reserves. None of these are for sale or trade - see that other thread for the swap. Maybe my list will inspire you to find some new music for your juke or iPod or whatever.

I have a 1956 Rock ola. I have mostly 50's and 60's music in it to keep it to what probably would have been in it originaly when it was on route.
I guess for me it would depend on the Juke Box. I just can't imagine seeing one like mine that screems early Rock n Roll, with Guns N Roses or ACDC in it. If it was a newer style that played 45's (late 70's early 80's) then I'd have no problem with the 80's rock and the stupid 80's arcade music in it.
Glennon

I have some of the ones you do, a few I plan to add is
Devil went down to gorgia
Love Shack
Freezeframe
That Pacman song
and I also plan to have a bunch of christmas 45's to change out during the Hollidays.
I wonder how a white blacklight would look in place of the normal white one allong the
back part of our Firestars :)

Well if it were up to me most of my 45's in my jukebox would be Country Music. That's not to say I don't like Rock and some of the new stuff so I put in the Country and I let my younger brother (12 years younger) a true child of the 80's put the rest in. Right now I still have my Christmas songs mixed in. My Jukebox is a Seeburg SS 160 Stereo Showcase so it holds 80 45's. It's also suppose to play 33 1/3LP EP but I found out after I bought the speed controller that someone had changed the gears to make it play at 45rpm without the speed controller. I have the gears to convert it back but haven't had the time to do it. It was easer to post pictures of my play list so here they are. You will notice I am a big Patty Loveless fan and 2 of my 45's of her I had custom made so I would say their the only 2 in the world. Some of my favorite ones are, in no particular order are,
It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night That Chew your Ass out All Day by the Cherry Bombs
I-95 Asshole Song by August Campbell
You Never Ever Called Me By My Name and Longhaired Redneck by David Allen Coe
Theme from Star Trek by MECO
Love Shack by the B-52's great party song, everyone sings along
Rock This Town by the Stray Cats
and any Patty Loveless, George Jones or Vince Gill song

Quite a few of my records were "mint" copies from CMA, which despite the fact that the shipping to the UK costs as much as the record, I think is worth it. The rest came from stuff I've kept from years back, friends and eBay.

I am working on filling another jukebox which will be mostly seventies MOR stuff, jazz instrumentals and vocal jazz ballads when I've finished.

This box is mostly Motown, classic fifties rock and some Doo-Wop. I'm more than happy with the following choices that took me a year to collect.

Thanks for participating in this thread everyone. I like seeing the different kinds of tunes in those jukes. Keep 'em comin'.

I know pics are easier Red, but I like to keep track of my 45's, so I keep inventory. I see you have the Ratt I have been seeking and I like the Pinball Wizard selection. Nice choices.

Yup the Ratt is the one with the crack in it :( Sucks, but it happens I suppose... Every juke in a gameroom should have Pinball Wizard or Pac Man Fever, should be a law or something :D

When the Local Arcade (now closed) got a 45 juke, it had some nice selections... You could tell that it came off location in the mid 90's. It was nearly untouched from then. Lots of Hard Rock from the 70's/80's and lots of stuff that was popular in the mid 90's (example: Deadeye Dick).

But the owner is into 50's/60's staples stuff so he replaced all the good stuff with Elvis and Shit.

Then he put the Guitar Hero Next to it, drowning out the Juke.

Then It broke...

The selection in the 45 machine at Pinball Parlor in Earlington PA is rather nice.

Just added a few new 45's to the playlist too.

Dead or Alive - Brand New Lover / In Too Deep (Live)
The Cult - Fire Woman / Automatic Blues
David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose / Shyboy
Honeymoon Suite - New Girl Now / It's Your Heart
GTR - When the Heart Rules the Mind / Reach Out
The Firm - Radioactive / Together
Deep Purple - Knocking At Your Back Door (edit) / Wasted Sunsets
Collective Soul - December / Gel

I have almost all 80s-early 90s rock/hair metal.
GnR
Ratt
Cinderella
Megadeth
Def Leppard
Led Zeppelin
Faith No More
Alice In Chains

You get the picture. But, its all rock/metal, not a single depressing/lame tune in the lot
The Firestar can hold 80 records, but Im constantly buying more each week and rotating them around, just like the games.

KEEP IT FRESH!

I just realised something there is 3 Firestars in this thread including mine.We should start a Firestar registry with serial numbers and a few pictures :)

I'm still collecting records for both my jukes.

Today I received some "mint" copies I've ordered.

Bobby Helms; "My Special Angel"

Frank Sinatra; "Nancy"

Walker Brothers; "Make it Easy on Yourself."

I'm waitiing on a double "A" side, of Frank Sinatra "My One and Only Love" / "I've got the World on a String."

Although I've mostly Motown, 50s/60s pop and Doo-Wop in one box (it's what most visitors of my age would expect to find) I'm making the other one have a much wider range of genres of stuff which I like.

I recently picked up and installed:

The Gap Band "You Dropped a Bomb on Me"
Icehouse "Electric Blue"
Michael Jackson "Smooth Criminal"
Taco "Puttin' on the Ritz"
Naked Eyes "Promises, Promises"
Guns N Roses "Patience"/ "Rocket Queen"

I just reloaded this one after dumping all the Christmas stuff.
Finally get to play my Link Wray - Dixie-Doodle, yea.

Just scored Gene Vincent's Be-Bop-A-Lupa
I think the grand kids'll love that one!
