There is a Atari Toobin locally for sale and I was wondering what a good price for it would be? The asking price is $750 which I more that I can afford, does that seem high for this game? I have never played it but from what I have seen it looks like a fun game, is it a game worth buying?

$750 would be a NIB price :p

Toobin' usually sells for around $200, complete and working. I've seen a $175, a $200, and a $150 in the past year in my area.

Things that can add to the value would be a working waterfall topper, and the gator decals on the sides of the CP - but neither of those adds anything significant to the cost of a complete, working game. Certainly not another $550

If your seller is under the impression that his/her game is worth 3-4x market value, then you'd be best off looking for another example.

$750 is crazy talk for this game. DO NOT PAY THAT MUCH!

It has a medium res monitor. That's a good thing. I think $250-$300 TOPS. I think I bought and sold mine for that price and it was in nice shape.

$550 about 4 years ago in my area.

Selling price up until the last 2 months in my area was reduced to around $300-$350.

Now? Nothing sells on my local CL unless its a 60-in-1 for cheap. My market died thanks to a few flippers.

It could easily be worth $750+ if... its restored. New monitor, T-molding, coin door refurbished/powdercoated, nice glass, artwork all intact, gator decals, paper bezel, new buttons, working water marquee, nice unmolested cabinet with no water damage, clean inside....

For an average run of the mill routed (working) version, sure. $2-$300 bucks all day long.

Awesome game, in my top 10 of all time.

I know guys in the midwest that sat on them forever wanting 2-300, great game, but for some reason very little love. $200ish is about it here.

Thanks for the input:) I thought it was way over priced, I was thinking $200- $300 for it myself. Having a feeling that the seller probably won't go down that low since he wants $750 for it.

5 years ago, I paid about $375 for mine, but aside from the missing gator decals, it was as close to mint as you'd find. I'd say up to $450 for a cosmetically near flawless one and closer to $200 for one that needs help but is all there. A key thing is the control panel. There are no repros, although the originals hold up well. Worth paying more for one that has a flawless panel. The panel sides can always be recovered in white vinyl and new gator decals applied, as those are reproduced.

Not yet anyway, i have a NOS CPO for this bad boy.

Been a Toobin fan for 10+ years. I have never seen ANYthing NOS for it. Congrats!

My panel looks mint and no yellowing. My sideart is nearly perfect. If repros were made, I'd still buy 1 of each.

I was hoping that Scott would get the contest shirts made!

+1

I had a VERY NICE toobin (all of them except for HUO were routed so dont worry about that) with intact art, working WF etc and sold for $300...I think.

$750, unless HUO, would be VERY hard to sell.

The waterfall mech isn't all that complicated. Mine was noisy, took it apart, lubed, but even if the motor was burnt up, you can replace it.

Bought a nice one for $250, and traded it away later down the road. Its a really, really fun multiplayer game. My boys were both way too young to be able to play it, so I moved it out for another game. Once they are older, I'll pick another one up for sure. All those Atari System I/II games (MM, Paperboy, 720, Champ Sprint, Toobin, APB) are awesome. Graphics, sound, game play all rock.

The guy selling it for $750 has some other games for sale and they seem overpriced also. APB was the first game I bought, I got my started on this hobby:) I remeber playing it when I was a kid at a corner store and still love playing it now. I am thinking of offering the seller $250 for Toobin but that might insult him since he wants $750 for it.

Stick with what you want to pay. Tell him the best you can do is $250 and if he passes tell him you'd still be interested and to call you if he changes his mind. Trust me someone will come along after you and offer even less so he will get back to you, after he sits on it for a long time of course lol.

A major factor in why these games don't command what they should is because they are usually in such shitty condition and people have gotten used to it... and expect it.

I sold my restored mint APB for $750 and that was a very good deal IMO.

Just sent the seller an e-mail asking for his best price and that they seem to run between $200-$300, I don't expect him to go that low. I'll see what he says, if he responds to me.
