Mine was kind of funny bc it kind of made me feel like a pedophile- a friend came in, saw it, and said 'man, you have everything a little boy could ever dream of in here'. The person's intentions were sincere, but it still sent a Michael Jackson Neverland chill through my body when he said it..... :)

So what's been the best reaction to your homecade? Share all the NO WAY's and GTFO's with us!!

A lady walked in on Halloween all big eyed and started rambling, "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THESE ARE WORTH?! LIKE, A MILLION DOLLARS!!" We say not quite that expensive, and he goes on, "OK, THEN MAYBE 500K BUT 50K BOTTOM POSSIBLE."

A 14 year old boy walked through my gameroom and said "this is the coolest thing I've EVER seen!" and he repeated it later. The comment in and of itself was gratifying, but the fact that it came from the youth of today made it all the more special.

My son filmed this video when I wasn't home. He was showing his friends the basement arcade. Unfortunately, he knows he is not allowed to turn them on when I'm not home so they only saw the machines off. The kids reactions were pretty cool. This was filmed about 2 years ago so the arcade has changed around a little bit since then.

A girl from the local bar said, upon entering: "Oh my god. You are such a nerd."

(The non-verbal reaction that came next = reason this post belongs.)

I was talking about getting rid of some games while my kids friends were around. I got some commentary like-

"Mr Kerry- you HAVE to keep Ms PacMan- it's my FAVORITE!"

"Dude- keep Rush N' Attack"

"Oh no- Spy Hunter- you've got to hang on to that"

I think the response I get most is, "Do they work?" I promptly respond, "If the stars are aligned properly and my fingers are crossed, yes."

That is an awesome video! I am very envious of you. I LOVE your Nintendo row! Excellent use of space. And you got a pretty good kid there too...

my 9 year old son had a friend over last week and as we were about to take him home i asked him if he had fun in the arcade, he said "this has been the best day of my life"...
i guess we don't always realize what a great thing we have because we see it everyday

I had a friend who was a cop once see the games and asked me if I was moving drugs with them. Guess it was another way to move drugs in the 80's and 90's.

Yup. The most popular cabinet to use was N.A.R.C.

I've had so many visitors over the years with all kinds of reactions. People stop their cars and get out just to come see it. During new years, I had random strangers I don't know stop over and ask if they could play some games. It's usually pretty fun to meet strangers you don't expect.

Recently I had some security system solicitor stop by and I was out in the garage and he flipped out "WOAH MAN!! TIME WARP!! I JUST STEPPED BACK INTO THE 80s!!" he proceeded to gawk and awe and saw Killer Instinct and just had to play it. After getting his ass kicked, he proceeded to try to sell me a security system that I was not interested in. He kept telling me how it would keep my games safe. I said I'd like to see someone try to quickly haul away a 250lb game without anyone noticing in my neighborhood!

Was cleaning the garage, and had about 12 games in the driveway.

A lot of cars slowed down to look.. only one guy stopped, this time.

"Do you do this for a living? Do you sell them? What do you do with them?"

Most people ask where I get them.... Whenever my kids have friends over, their parents seem more interested in the games than the kids. The kids seem to like the pins more than the UR games.

thats awesome.. you know its funny, just like your son said "i hang out in my room most of the time" my daughter is the same way, with all the machines i have down in my arcade my daughter plays my PC the most.

I once got: "It's like a juvenile delinquent's dream down here."

She hadn't even yet seen the graffitti-riddled hallway strewn with empty Colt 45 cans ;-)

One of my wife's friends came in, saw it, ripped her clothes off and said take me now! Then I woke up. ;)

Most people when they see my collection they already know about it, but once they see it their jaw hits the floor and they can't stop talking about how awesome my basement is. A bunch of people have asked me to find them Megatouches and other randon games, but they usually don't follow through on their requests, just come over and play my games once in a while.

"What hours are you open?" :) They thought the arcade was going to be open to the public.

That reminds me. I've had various people suggest that I could make money hosting birthday parties and whatnot. I suppose that's a pretty nice indirect compliment. But that would assume I have spare time to devote to it and/or need the money badly enough to go to the trouble. Not happening. :)
