Just wanted some ppls ideas.

I dont have the monster size game room like some ppl on here, But i am trying to do a few things to "spruce up" What i do have.

couple of questions

Whats a good way to "hide" your water heater?

As you can see from my pictures, I covered my furnace with a black curtain. Maybe i could do the same with the hw heater, or paint it to look like something cool.

I still need a name for my arcade. (ideas?)

When you walk down to my basement (only like 6 steps) you see my gameroom to the left.
the room right in front is our "music room" I play some guitar, and have all my old dj /pa setup in that room. when people come over they like to sing karaoke, and play the arcade game.

to the right of the stairs going down is my retro trash can, and a storage area.

my arcade game are in one row 8 games, and you can walk through from one end and out the other. and back into the music room.

I know. knock down the divider wall, and make one big arcade room. (not gonna happen- ask my wife)

any ideas on names/themes/decore?

thanks guys

Paint it like R2D2 or a put a monitor on top and call it a duramold cabinet.

Put a chair in front of it. Ideally this one:

Take an old cabinet, gut it, put in a flat panel for the screen and one of those classic arcade "TV multicades", and use the empty cabinet as a water heater wrapper. It would fit the theme, and even be marginally interesting to play.

Whatever you do, keep in mind clearance requirements and combustion air for both the furnace and water heater.

You could paint the water heater in an 8 bit theme like Super Mario Bros, maybe make it look like one of the green pipes and finish it off with a hanging bonus coin cube from the ceiling. Paint the furnace to look like the castle and add a flag near the top.

That way you solve the airflow and clearance issues and still stick with the gameroom theme.

Make a fake cab to put around it, maybe a urban legend cab :D

make sure you ventilate it obviously.

Seems like you have some pirate theme going there.... why not paint a big skull and crossbones on it. Or.... paint it to look like a crows nest lookout barrel...and stick a pirate above it sorta like this image.

Just be aware of heat exhaust..

great ideas.

Thanks for all the ideas.

I think the paint ideas are the winner in my book.

also wife will like the cost, cheaper..

May go with the industrial factory look.

Maybe add some fake knobs and controls to make it look like a nuke control panel, paint with glow paints.

NAME - TOXCITY or something like that.

may remove the curtains from around the a/c unit , and move them over to the wall to extend out from the top where the arcade letters are and go to the wall by the stairs.

You would come down the steps, and turn right - step through the curtain to get into the arcade.

maybe another black curtain at the other end. or a pocket door.

thanks guys.
