What'da think? Is he a keeper or should I throw him back.

Hey guys,
Pretty much finished with making this money pit of a game whole. It could be polished up a little bit more, and I'm trying to decide if this is going to be a permanent addition to the game room. So what do you think. Keep in mind, I'm out of space, and I will have to swap it out with an assault and I also have a Space Duel just waiting to be resembled which could also end up in its space. Decisions, decisions, decisions. At least I can store the loser(s) in the other out building maybe. So heres some pics.

Do you like Donkey Kong? I assume you don't have another DK. To me DK is a must in my collection but I understand not having space. Ultimately what you keep should be based on what games you enjoy playing. If you don't want it I'm sure someone else would be happy to have it.

Does this horrible thing play DK at all? I can take it off your hands for an even trade of a real DK cocktail that also works, if so.

What a terrible eyesore you have - trade me for my lovely squat, brown, rusty working yet hideous DK CT.:004_ssleepy:

I absolutely loved the little Coleco handheld as child. So I thought it would be awesome to have the original someday. And I think the red was the best color for the game although I know opinions may vary. Picked up a red VS. game at auction and began the long arduous task of piecing one together from scratch. I will have to sit down and figure up just how much I have in the game some time soon. However, the game play is growing on me. But its hard to fall in love with a game that keeps bleeding you dry. As for what's left to be done, the coin door could be nicer. I may look for a real DK coin door. The old Radar Scope/VS door is pretty banged up and needs painted at minimum. The marquee brackets also need painted. And I also have to decide whether to remove the carriage bolts on the side and apply some repro artwork I picked up a while back. But the game has a repro wiring harness(dokert's), new switching ps(arcadeshop), new monitor bezel(Arcadeshop), cap kit with audio rebuild. Mechanically, it should be solid for years. I know this belongs in my classic gameroom, but I really want to fit that Space Duel in there and maybe convert it to a Black Widow(which I already have the board for).
So here's whats in the room currently:
1. Tron
2. Star Wars CP
3. ESB
4. Taitronics Space invaders (sooooo pretty)
5. Galaga
6. Gaplus
7. Tempest
8. Mini Zaxxon (import)
9. 100% fully operational Qbert
10. Scared Stiff
11. Assault

Assault can be moved to the outbuilding with the other Jamma's, but that just leaves 1 empty for DK or Space Duel. And I do have a cocktail DK Jr that I could use to play DK on. Been thinking about converting it to a D2K just because it could use a new look.

I'd move the Gaplus out of the main gameroom, you already have a Galaga. Most people remember 3 games, Galaga, Ms. Pacman and Donkey Kong. People always ask if I have one of those 3.

All solid advice. Since my gameroom name/theme is to be "Circa '82", the assault will definitely get moved out with the other jammas. But its too cool just to get rid of. That leaves 1 space and DK is nearly ready so it will go in. I guess I will have to find some place to stick the Space Duel to put it back together again. Then I'll just have to play them until I figure out which is the best game. As for the Gaplus, Galaga would go before the Gaplus would. But since Shoot em ups is my favorite genre, I don't see giving up Galaga or Gaplus any time soon. Now Space Invaders is a possibility. But considering it came from Japan to CA and then from CA to my house in TN, there is a certain coolness factor in it. Plus, its a very nice cabinet.
