i know these boards are able to be pheonixed but dont the boards have to still be working
if not what do i need to do burn a set of chips without a ss checksum
can it be salvaged or should i just throw it in the garbage after stealing everything worth a dam off the board

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I was expecting a picture of a live snake or something though.

lol well there was some sort of larva inside it looked like a wasp because there was remnants of a wasp nest on the outer edge
but alas i didnt get picks of that

stupid guy had the machine outside he said only 1 week but i have a feeling it has always been outside im finding all sorts of creeppy crawleys

Save the PAL chips, the graphics ROMs, and the sound/program EPROMs. Document the solder position of ALL the jumpers on the board. All of this information and the chips can be used to put that game on a different CPS2 cart board (It'll still need phoenxing though...)

Ok now I"m afraid to open my Darkstalkers...

That said...I would try to save that, doesn't look like the end of the world but it doesn't look fun either.

Actually, this is the reason why you should open ALL of your cps2 games. This battery has been dead for years to have that damage. A battery that has begun leaking recently can be easily removed and the pcb can be cleaned and neutralized. If you see the battery getting "fuzzy" on the ends, change or remove it.

Definitely replace CPS2 batteries when you get boards in - it's the easiest solder job you'll ever do, having the piece of mind that they are safe for 4 more years makes them much more enjoyable.

You could try rehabbing it. Soak it in a mild vinager solution and scrub it with an old toothbrush. Then rinse and dry for a couple of days.

Or just put it back together and sell it on Ebay as "untested". :D

I could probably fix that. I deal with boards in that condition on a daily basis at work. I repaired a punch out board with leakage from 3 AA batteries and it was in much worse shape then this.
