My magic 8-ball says that a Data East Tommy may possibly be in my future, and I hope to be able to have a look at it asap. (The owner says that it's in superb working and cosmetic condition.)

What's the consensus of the KLoV pinheads on this machine?

I got to play it at the Pinball Convention in allentown. Didn't think I would like it that much, but really enjoyed it. Would buy one if the chance came along.

I've played it a bit. Saw one in good nick for an absurdly low price, but passed. The gameplay isn't bad, but it wasn't anything special.

The key is getting past the idea that you'll have to look at it on a regular basis.

I played it 10+ everyday for the last year and half. Its no holly grail or AF, TZ. it no replacement but, still like it.

Some of the music sucks- The parts the Who should be singing. Guess it would not be broadway then.

Gameplay-wise, it's a lot like Addams. It's partially "reverse Addams" ...similar upper flipper ramp shot, but on the other side ...scoops start modes. Modes are stackable (loops relight instead of ramp like on Addams). Tommy, when clean w/ new rubber and dialed in plays very nicely. You have to put some hard rubber reinforcement behind the silverball targets, or else they'll catapult all over the place.

Tommy is also a bit deeper than it first appears, so it can keep you interested for a while. DE made a lot of good games imo.

Yeah, it has a ton of modes, multiballs, a nice Super Skill shot, combos, and the ever so appropriate WIZARD mode! It's insanely hard to get the Tommy Jackpot in the 6-ball Multiball....very satisfying when you do, and then the blinders open to make it even harder! The only real negative is the stupid video mode...but that's over in 10 seconds.

Great game I think, one of my favorites. Plenty of depth, modes, good shots and combo's, etc. The video mode is hokey but it gives you a chance to take a drink. If you don't like the Who it's probably not for you. A lot of people think it's similar to TAF, I don't agree. Mine is set up next to TAF, very different game play.
