I have a Midway Pac Man cab that was converted into a Nintendo Vs. system. The wiring in it is pretty funky and I think there are about 3 different power supplies in there too. It still has the original midway transformer though.
The monitor is original to the cab (WG 4600) and has the PAC MAN maze burn on it. Honestly, this monitor would not be good for any other game BUT pac man.
I took my Nintendo board out of it and a few nintendo buttons from the control panel to use in my new Nintendo Vs cab.
Now I have a Midway cab with monitor and what not.

So what would you do?
Restore it to a Pac Man, even though it has been raped beyond belief. The sides are no longer yellow but wood grain (may be formica??)
Part it out? The parts are in very good condition (coin door etc)
I already have a 60 in 1 with Pac Man on it, so I am not in a real need for the game. Still, it is pretty classic once it is done right.
Thoughts?

Really, the best shot it has at ever being played again or worth anything is if you multigame it. I'd multigame it, put an LCD monitor in it, and sell it.

If you make it a pac man, it's either going to be half assed or you're going to have to drop a fortune into it. Bezel, Coin Door, Side art or paint, marquee, pcb, control panel, joystick, wiring harness.

I know people don't like that answer but your other option is part it out, which completely destroys the cabinet. I'd multigame it.

Remove the woodgrain crap and see what the side art looks like. Then go from there. If its totally trashed and you don't want to sand and repaint, then you can junk it. Let's see some pics.

Well, I have the Coin Door, Monitor, original power supply, iso transformer, Marquee brackets, plexi glass, speaker.
The CP I have was converted into a Nintendo one, but it could probably be changed back without much work.
I was more concerned with buying the art that goes for it. I mean, they painted those sides and front....
About the only thing I don't have is the actual game, artwork and wiring.

I will get some better pics tomorrow.
Here are a few.

I say part it out. I call dibs on the PCB and Marquee. Then buy you an unhacked control panel from arcadeshop in either multicade or Pac man. Restore to either a multicade, original Pacman/Ms. Pac or Galaga as pac cabs make pretty sweet Galagas.

Monitor screens with bad burn can be covered with tinted plexi or auto/house window tint and used in other games.

Yeah. The PCB for the Vs game and Marquee are staying with me. I also may consider keeping the Nintendo Joysticks, switches and buttons for me. Otherwise, I might part out all the other stuff.

I vote with everyone who says to multi it, there's a ton of Pacmans out there so you're not really committing any crimes against arcade collecting, and the cab looks solid enough that I'd be reluctant to totally trash it. Look into maybe doing a tube swap with a clean one from a scrapped TV, there's a number of threads on it.

I agree with removing the woodgrain sides to see if the original artwork is under it. I bought a Ms. Pac-Man at auction years ago and found really nice artwork under. That was a nice surprise.

Restore it. That's what I did...
