So I won an item...when I put my bid in the shipping method and amount were different then they are now.

Prior they were USPS Priority, and now it is $80.00 for Parcel Post.

and yes let me repeat that PARCEL POST!

I have now won the auction but this was changed after I bid initially...what would you do?

I just had this happen to me last week after being on ebay for nearly 13 years. The change wasn't that much and it was clear the seller had entered the wrong shipping charge (which doesn't excuse the change). What happened is that right after winning, before I could pay, the seller generated another invoice with the higher shipping cost. The good thing is, if you view the completed auction, you can see the original shipping price (and so can ebay). Contact the seller and ask why it was changed. If it's unreasonable, which it sounds like it is, don't pay and contact ebay. I doubt much will happen to the seller, but you can leave negative feedback.

I didn't think eBay allows changes after a bid is placed. Contact eBay, they hate when sellers jack up the shipping costs.

Depends on how bad you want / need the item. I had one of these a few months back. Paid right after the auction, the seller waits a week to ask for more money for shipping - claimed they made a typo in the shipping weight. I paid the difference because I wanted the item.

If it would have been a common item, I would have done the work to cancel the transaction since this is quickly becoming an Ebay seller bait and switch scam to get more money.

$80 for Parcel Post?? That's a very high amount of money for a package going through the USPS. If this is a very large/heavy item, it is cheaper to ship UPS, if the item is delicate, DO NOT allow it to be destroyed going Parcel Post. Parcel Post is just so f'ing cheap, man I would only ship books or magazines that way! There is a HUGE difference between Priority and Parcel post, make sure it doesn't get shipped out that way.

Report it for circumventing ebay fees. When it hits paypal/ebay in the wallet they take action.

Its like the auctions that sell for 1 dollar but are like 50 dollars for shipping.

I would consider the following things:

1 Is it a fair price for shipping whatever the items is? I can't think of what would cost 80 bucks parcel. Did you order a volume of enclyopedias?

2. Did you place another bid after the change was made?

3. Did anyone else bid after your initital bid?

4. If you consider it an honest mistake or an intentional money grab.

5 Is the combined price acceptable for a delivered item to your home.

Its a BS thing to do, but if the changes were made to legitimately cover shipping cost I wouldn't be too angry.

Parcel post isn't always the best delivery method. You may as well have the UPS ground guys play kick ball with it.

It isn't so much the amount...it is the method.

I will ALWAYS pay more to not have it go through parcel post. I have had Parcel Post destroy or damage items in every single thing I have purchased that they shipped in that manner.

It was listed as USPS Priority and then changed to parcel post.

I ended up paying it with a note attached to make sure it is well WELL packed.

I would contact the seller and try to get it resolved. Get details on the weight and package dimensions. Look up your own quote. If things don't add up, contact them again.

If it isn't resolved that way, contact eBay.

If you won an auction at a low price (good deal) the seller may be trying to get out of it or recoupe their "losses" by jacking up the shipping charges.

Unless it is some very rare part, I would look elsewhere.

If it falls through, be sure to leave negative feedback with details on what they did.

I have never had a transaction that they could not fix
