Painted black and converted, but has brown (Joust) underneath. Dimensions don't match up with Joust or Moon Patrol but it's of that shape.

Back height is nearly 65", 25.5" deep. Width between side panels (control panel, marquee, kick plate) is 24.5"

that is definately an ,, arcade cabinet.

My joust back measures almost 63 inches. Same width, though.

So probably not a Joust. Check the pic above, there a re a few other cabs with similar profiles. It could have been converted before.

Damn Williams factory :)

It's painted Joust & the art I wanna use for a conversion is sized to Joust, but when I get the dimensions from Escape Pod I was like "argh". Is Joust 24.5" between the side panels?

Thanks for measuring that for me, man! Now to find a non-hacked Joust panel. This one had been many things in its life, including a 6 button fighter. Not much meat left to it.

The problem with Williams cabinets and figuring out what they used to be is that there are so many designs and they are very similar. The one in question does look like a Joust. I once had a converted cabinet that was painted red. Under that was Joust art, under that was Robotron art. I also had another converted cabinet that had Robotron art but was not the typical Robotron shape. The factory used whatever they had at hand to get games out the door. They probably didn't think anybody would care more than 30 years later. They probably did not think any of the games would still be around by now, less actually working.

HAHAHAH. Mine is maybe worse than that. I'll take a crack at it, I suppose.

that actually looks like a Stargate panel. I have one of those that was converted to Rastan, and presently I have it rigged up for the Bubbles optical joystick. the slit where the up/down joystick went is the indicator.

YellowDog did a seminar a few years back and mentioned the company only expected the games to last 2-3 years. given that when I reached self-awareness about 1985/1986 and saw dead Williams games everywhere (I seriously lived in various arcades at age 3, surreal), it looks like they may have been correct.
