What was your favorite game as a kid and do you own one know!!

Well ... so much for originality ...

My favorites were DK and DK Junior. I now own a DK that plays both.

I also really loved Robotron and I also own one of those.

Other games I loved as a kid, but do not own:

Star Castle
Tempest
Crazy Climber
Pengo

Here is an interesting twist!

Games I hated as a kid and still hate, but for some strange reason now own:

Dig Dug

I played killer instinct a lot when I was a kid.
I have owned the arcade machine twice now lol current one need monitor work :(

First one was mint, sholda kept but was moving and convinced myself it was the one thing that would make me require a moving truck....
I don't know why I was against the idea of a moving truck, guess I thought it was gonna cost to much.... any who I used moving truck any ways. But atleast my machine was sold to a friend. He still has it, talked to him about buying it back last ditch effors before picking up a project one off ebay to convert back to ki1, (was cnverted to ki2)

Games I own I didn't like as a kid and still don't like.
Pole position! Lol
Got it cheap in good shape with recapped monitor so I kinda got it as a home arcade white noise machine! Lol the attract mode sounds of poleposition are time less, the game kinda sux though lolz

T2 arcade lol bought em to flip now im sitting on em lolz

Spy Hunter my favorite as a kid put many quarters in the one at Alladins castle in the greentree mall. Bought a nice cockpit a couple years ago probably my grail [for now]

I played that same machine many times at Green Tree Mall. But, the game that I liked most at the same Alladin's Castle was Hot Rod 4-player. My friend and I used to get dropped off their on sunday's and you could get $7.50 worth of tokens for $5.00 we would spend all our tokens on it. And NO I don't own one yet. LOL

I would have to say although Crazy Climber and Asteroids Deluxe were big favorites of mine, nothing beat Astro Blaster. For me. Really don't know why that is either, it just is. Such fond memories of playing it in the dirty lobby at Fisher's Big Wheel (now defunct department store) while waiting for my dad to come out of the store.

Choplifter and Pengo. I only ever played in conversions back in the UK, so as I have conversions now I feel it's still an authentic experience.

IIRC the pengo I played was in a hacked up Space Panic (!)

The 'favorite' posts are tough for me since I just like the games lots for the time period they represent (I own some I don't really like or hate :) ).

A brief list:

Centipede: have it
NARC : have it
Smash TV : have it
Battle Zone : have it

Growing up spending my summers at the Jersey shore i played all kids of games on the boardwalk. and id say hands down my favorite game i played when i was a kid was Dragon's lair. i thought it was incredible that you could play a game that looked like a sunday morning cartoon.
that was the second game i bought when i started collection games ! and still my favorite game of all.

I'm with ya' dude.

DL was my fav and my 3rd game. DK was a favorite of mine too, which was my first game.

I was a sucker for the Rygar machine at my small arcade, it was in a converted ms pac so that is how I restored mine. Also played a lot of Rockola eyes, just finishing that resto (need a cp, anyone got one?)I am working on a StarWars restoration now....I am collecting my faves from the start....

Asteroids- have a really nice one now.
GORF- played during almost every break at the grocery store I was a sack boy at, have one now.

What about games you loved as a kid, bought and then sold because you realized you didn't really like them- Moon Patrol.

Sorry for all the Moon Patrol lovers here, the linear gameplay just killed the buzz of having that one after I started playing it a lot again.

That sucks when u love a game as a kid and its a let down when u get older.

Pole Position - own it/love it
Robotron - have the JRock board
Centipede - own, it's getting fixed right now
Smash TV - have the boards in a Jamma cab - I REALLY want a proper 25" cab.
Ikari Warriors - I recall playing this a lot at Fun-N-Pizza, but do not own one yet

By far the most $ I have put in a video machine over the years is the RUSH series of games, probably put the most in the 2049. I still play any RUSH game wherever I find it, and half the time the streering is awry, but I do it anyways because I don't own one ....yet

Robotron, DK, Stargate, Eagle, Centipede (own the last).

Does anyone remember an obscure upright shooting game that also had a line of robots moving back and forth horizontally underneath you that would periodically punch upwards with an arm which would blow you up if it touched you?

Would have been out in the late 70's early 80's. It was one of my first exposures to video games and we played it often in a cafeteria - driving me nuts that I can't remember what it was..
