Found a way to snap a picture of this cap. Is it a tantalum capacitor or ceramic? The board is a Falcon board Ms. Pacman bootleg.

So does the 1 mean it's 1 uf 25v?
25

Thanks for any help.

Looks like a tantalum.

I think it's 25 pF, but I can't see the whole label due to the flash.

What is up with that board? It looks pretty dirty - like it was caught in a sandstorm or something. Micro-fine particles - have you had this around something with talcum, or SelexSorb?

It's in a cafe that roasts it's own coffee. Has been dead for years and not loved. I offered to fix it just to fix it. Game works fine but has no sound. Monitor was done in but is now repaired.

Next up, after it earns a bit I will hopefully be able to restore it...

It's a tantalum one for sure, 1uF 25V.
25pF is not a value for tantalum capacitors.

I agree... I usually just replace it with an electrolytic.. tantalum was what's designed but I always figured today's electrolytics are probably comparable to 30 year old tantalums....

um... what GAME is it?

um... what GAME is it?

Exactly ;)
Knowing what the game it is, Sometime the schematics can be found and the value can be read from the schematics.

But.

schematics are not the bible. Meaning that production changes, additions and subtractions from the original design don't always show up on the schematics.

1uf 25v Tantalum as mentioned by others.

BEWARE: That cap has the stripe side connected to positive. On electrolytic caps the stripe side is negative.
