I am starting to get the urge to own an EM game. What would I expect to pay for a working game? Cosmetics are not very important to me.

I know this is a blanket statement, but I know next to nothing about these games. Simple posts of personal experiences would be great.

I have been considering buying an EM for a while as well. I see them pop up on the local CL and drop in price to anywhere from $50 to $300 before they sell. Like vids and pins there are a few desireable titles but the rest you can get pretty cheap.

A decent condition rifle type game, mabye needing some work 4 to 500. Needing serious work 150 to 400 depending on the game. Bigger EM's are generally worth less with the exception of the few with machine guns which are worth more than a comparable rifle game. Check the size of the game before you commit to anything without seeing it, some of these games are huge. I think it's especially important to be sure all unique parts are present as these parts are hard to come by. Coils etc excluded. As with anything condition and timing are key. Good luck!!

Sega games --- $$$$$

Midway - $$$

Chicago Coin - $$

(speaking of 60s/70s equipment)

I was looking at a nice sega combat recently, but never made an effort to buy it. Anyone have any experience with one? Worth the effort?

EM's have a cool factor, i have 2 that i bought at a good price, i would not pay alot for them,if you thought trying to find parts for a video games is hard try EM's, they do have more maint, i would buy anouther one but not over $200 anything over that i would stay with vids

To expand shardian's question a bit, what's a good recommended EM game for a first time buyer?

Are there particular games or game styles that tend to have more longevity in their game mechanics or ruleset?

I have one. sideart( if you can call it that) is minty, because it is not painted onto wood, rather a laminate type of material. Quality construction through and through. The artistic value alone makes it worth the price I paid ( 300), but I was lucky, as mine works. Gameplay is ok , but you may tire of it fast. The novelty of it is priceless however and a definite conversation piece with fairly good liquidity, even in todays market
