So after lightning striking fairly close to the garage door a lot of the games' monitors have decided to change color on me and I need a good degaussing coil... but I really have no clue what to look for in one or where to pick them up (Radio Shack no longer has them...) is there a well known go-to place for these?

You could order one from fry's electronics: $39.95

Alright, sounds good, I'll go ahead and get one and stop wishing I had one every time a spot shows up in a monitor. :) Thanks guys!

You take two degaussing coils from the same size dead tube. Put then in series with a switch and a cord. Electric tape them together and you have a very strong coil that will take 120v abuse. If it melts make another:)

Don't even bother with the cheapies on eBay. Buy a good one and be done with it.

Yep , buy a good one ,

even though this is an Australian one , it cost around $90.00 ,

Funny story ,this is my second one , why ?

I deguassed a tube one day , put the wand on the floor , and fell asleep on the couch,

when i woke up , the room was full of stinking smoke , i had put the wand on the ground against the on switch [ the red button in picture ] , it sat there and cooked it`s self , it literally melted to the floor .

When you use a want with a sep on switch , unplug it after use !!!
