I used some citristrip to remove some paint today, and I'm wondering what I should follow up with. The parts I stripped are still a little moist and orangey. Will they just dry out with time or should I spray on some acetone or something?

Now you have to get all of the stripper off, or plan on it ruining any finish you put over it. I like to use lacquer thinner and a rag.

I would follow it up with alcohol / something cleaner based like that to neutralize it otherwise it lingers. Check the label - they probably suggest alcohol or mineral spirits.

Turns out my air compressor works pretty well for getting the crusty bits out of the cracks. I wiped everything down with some acetone too.

soapy water is another option i read about. post some pics if you can love to see what before, during, and after look like.

I would, but I think people would probably murder me for not trying to save the original art...

if your going to put the same art on it i'm sure it wouldn't be that bad, maybe an indian burn or two.

I dread when i attempt to strip paint off my first cab while trying to save the art.

I'm in the process of stripping my Xevious its been painted up for probably about 20 years give or take a few (was converted into a Raiden in 1990-ish) - I too also used Citristrip, I had to use two coats, 1 coat 10-15 mins to loosen the paint (then scrape with plastic scapper), a second coat to actually strip (another 10-15 mins)... that leaves me with a pretty clean surface with the exception of some pits and dings that still have old paint on them as well as some hard spots... I then use Motsenbocker's LiftOff Graffiti remove #4 on the tough stubborn spots which does an o-k job... I have found that good 'ol fashioned elbow grease and some warm soapy water does a really good job in comparison though... you application may require something stronger or gentile depending on what type of medium or residue you may be removing. when i'm done i give then entire cab a final treatment of Aerospace cleaner to get rid of any orange goo, or soap that may be left behind. i get my aerospace cleaner from detailedimage dot com they're actually an automotive detail company, but i've used aerospace on several things around the house and its fantastic... just don't forget to dilute it lol
