So, I've got a situation arising. Lots of machines, and I am going to need the space soon. I need to move one of the cars into the garage to start working on it. The problem is, I have a lot of machines that need work, and I'm not sure what to do with them.
Obviously, things like my Spy Hunter and MKII I will be keeping, as those are machines that I would not willingly part with. However, my coverted Dig Dug/Tri-Sports? Dynamo cut-corner Ikari Warriors III? Converted Taito/Capcom Bowling??
The issue I have with just selling these machines outright is that they all (more or less) have perfectly good, working 19" monitors. As far as I know (and I may be wrong) there are no new 19" tubes available, so my problem is, do I sell working games, or project cabs? Or, perhaps I should strip them out for the monitors, sell the PCB's and other parts, and burn the cabs? I really don't like to throw away ANYTHING, so any advice would really help make a decision here. Thanks, guys!!

Shawn,

I was at Ocean Beach last Monday... the arcade looks so much better now than last year!! I was bummed you weren't there to say hello to... disappointed the Ms Pac was nowhere to be found... AND got the high score on the Galaga!! :D It was a fun time!

No chance of cramming them into a spare bedroom or tool shed for the time being? How about renting a small storage unit or seeing if you can store them in a friend's garage?

You need to start by listing the games you care about the least on CL without delay. Take good clear pics (link to them in the CL ad) and give detailed descriptions and that may help eliminate a few time wasters. If that doesn't work you may have to part a few machines, but unless you enjoy commiting financial hari kari do NOT put them in storage. For the $800 it would cost you for a year of climate controlled storage you could rebuy multiple project cabs later.

Not to worry, I know all about the storage route...not going there. The problem is I don't have anywhere else to store them..matter of fact, I've got games at an op's warehouse that still need to migrate here. My point was this : For example, my 100% fully working Ikari III...what's it worth on CL? 2-300? Now, is it worth it to deal with the hassle of spammers/no shows/multiple phone calls for that, or am I better off to Ebay the board, and keep the monitor for a 19" cab I really care about and want, and junk the Ikari? Or just sell it as it is, and hopefully not need a 19" CRT down the road?
That's what I was asking folks around here. If anybody has had this choice before, and what did they do, and how did it work out? I really don't want to strip down working cabs, but I need space, and right now I don't have a lot of time to work on all these projects.

Unless you're going to take ten years off from the hobby used monitors will still be plentiful for some time. Personally I would sell the project/unwated cabs with the monitors. It will make them easier to sell and prevent you from having to store even more stuff.
