Bought a very nice (well above average) Birdie King II on ebay for a whopping $26.01. Got it home and played it a few times... and I dont care for it. I already have a Golden Tee, so face it, Birdie King is not going to cut it. But, for $26 bucks I was after the cabinet, without high expectations of the game itself.

So, knowing that I already have a Golden Tee and a 60 in 1, what are my options for other Taito games that use the wiring standard? It it were Jamma I would have plenty of options, but I am not that familiar with Taito interchangability. I think I have heard of a Taito multi board of some kind, but I cant find the reference.

(Warning: this post won't be too helpful - I'm looking for info!)

I'm actually a fan of Birdie King II. Haven't played one in years though.

I know very little about the hardware, other than it's similar to Taito of the time...if you get around to looking closer at the PCB, can you answer something for me? I've always wondered if Birdie King II has separate volume controls on the PCB for game sounds and music, like Elevator Action does...

I am happy to take a look for you. I will check it out. I think I will need to remove the baords from the cage though, won't I?

I'd hope that the volume (or volume) controls would be accessible without having to yank the boards from the cage. You should be able to adjust dip switches that way, too.

There is an access hole on the side of the board cage about the size of a silver dollar. There is a single adjustable pot there. It is not a knob. It is the type that you stick a screwdriver into. There are no volume controls inside the coin door area, so I presume that is it as far as volume.

Cool - thank you for checking!

Personally I like the game, enough in fact that I want to build it a cabaret with a switch in it to go between BK I,II & III of which I've got most of the parts for except the BK I board.

I think the harness is standard Taito that goes with games like Jungle King, Alpine Ski, etc, but I'm not 100% sure, and obvious the controls would have to be rewired for a joystick.
