Hey everyone. I won a couple of lots of old marquees from the Alpha Amusements auction in Michigan and am now trying to figure out the best way to unload them. What would be easiest for me is to sell them as a unit, but I'm guessing several of you would be interested in one or two and/or are too far away to pick up the whole mess. I'd like to keep things in the spirit of the community considering all the help I've gotten from many of you, but I'd also like to recover my investment with some extra to fund future projects so I'm open to input. These aren't for sale yet. They range from NOS to average with a few pretty skanky ones thrown in for good measure. Some have glue crud on the back form being stuck to drywall, but I've been able to scrape a bit of it off with my fingernail without damaging the artwork. I've included the entire list with amounts and comments (blank amounts = 1). If things look reasonable from whatever input I get, I'll split the lot up. Not trying to jerk anyone around.

Just incase you were wondering why there were so many marquees..They been tossing out cabs for years. Had a buddy try to buy some stuff from them years ago and they said they would rather smash it with their fork truck then sell it. I really don't understand the operator mentality... were they scared of local competition? This picture was taken in 2014 and lifted from a facebook post.

That guy in the cowboy hat seemed like a douche when I met up with him the other day. Made me wait 20 min while he went to go get prices on neo geo carts. After 20 mins I just left.

Went back to make offers on the stuff that didn't get picked up, the scrappers were there buying this stuff for $1 a pound.

There were monitor chassis galore! I would have made an offer, but he said "I'm not gonna give the stuff away." And all I asked him for was a price.

My apologies to you FORK, I didn't mean to take away from your sale post! GLWTS.... lots of cool stuff you got there!

Liquidating stock under duress is no joy.
Talk to seller, commiserate, share a story.
It helps to have spent time on the operator
side of the business.

The boards ended up being ten bucks each.

I tried to talk to the guy, but really, he wanted eBay prices at a liquidation sale. At least, that's what it seemed. Also attempted to pass off a parts board as being "all there" when clearly it wasn't. Keeping me waiting while shooting the shit with others instead of checking prices, like he told me he'd do, kinda told me his priorities weren't to sell to me. That's just he impression I walked away with.

Maybe the OP has seen some crappy XX-in-1 conversions people have been doing lately and just figured it was better to put the cabinets out of their misery. :D

You guys mean to tell me, in my 9 years of collecting, and only seeing 2 auctions locally in that time, I miss an auction close to me, during the 1 week I take a vacation. Damn what a buzz kill. I hadn't gone anywhere in over 5 years!

FWIW I will probably take that pacman off your hands, once you decide to sell. Assuming it's nicer than what is in my machine, which it looks like it is.

Don't sweat it too much. I've learned of a few op raids after the fact too near me. It normally turned out that the parties involved kept it quiet to limit competition. :(
