I have a DKJ Cocktail with a bad tube. I bought Mike's Color Inverter and sound amp board. Hooked up one of my spare 19" monitors every thing works great until I went to install it. It wont fit way to big. So i have been looking but cant find the size of the original Sanyo monitor.
The tube has the number A43JBE50X
Thanks
Walter

Probably had an xm1801 in it.... 18"

...good luck finding one =-P

if the monitor in cocktails is the same as cabarets of that era, it should be the "14 inch" version of the 20EZ (which i had in a Space Demon cabaret.) i put "14 inch" in quotes because, like the 20EZ is really a 19" monitor despite the fact that it's often referred to as 20" in the literature, the 14" version is really a 13" monitor.

the later Red Tents took a different version that was in between the two in size, i think they called it a 17" but it's really 16".

(edited to add: probably an "18 inch"/17".)

if i'm right, with the Mike's inverter board you should be able to install any raster 13" standard res monitor in there.

BZZT! ERROR!

The Red Tents used the 18" Sharp XM1801N, DKJR and Popeye cocktails used the 18" Sanyo 18-Z2AB. These ARE interchangeable.

Cabarets and only DK (SENIOR) cocktails used the 13" Sanyo (which is referred to as 14" in documentation).

i just amended that, based upon the documentation i could find.

i remember looking at a DK cocktail i was contemplating purchasing and thinking the 13" monitor looked so damn small; nice to know they put a larger one in the DKjr machines.

So what are the chances of me finding a 18" monitor to install here or should I just mod the cabinet to take a 19"

Is there anybody here in Houston that rebuilds monitors I could have look at the Sanyo that was in here I tried to recap and new fly back nothing thats about as far as I can go on fixing monitors.

Or heres a thought could I order a chassi from 8liner.com if the tube is good. How the hell do I tell if a tube is bad??

It's not...

DK used a 13/14" and a 4-board set....

DKJR / Popeye didn't come as 4-board sets, only 2-board, and those don't fit in DK cocktails, only the larger cabs that came with xm1801s / 18ZAWs.

...and japanese 20" tubes are marginally larger than standard 19" tubes.... it's a matter of rounding error going from cm to in.

DK rescue

How do you know the tube is bad and not the chassis?
Some time over next two days I will look to see the frame and tube I have extra from my DK cocktail.

I'm not sure its the tube or the chassis. I repaired the chassis as best I could no luck.Im just guessing its the tube.

Tubes very rarely go so bad you get no picture at all. What is your current problem?

I have an 18ZAB in my Popeye cocktail that I still need to throw a cap kit on. I was lucky to find it, as I got the cab with the monitor missing. I discovered one on an operator's shelf, was told it was most likely toast, and found it powered up with issues. Knowing the HV section works is the most important thing for these, although I think flybacks are available for them now...

The tube has the number A43JBE50X

Just for the record.... the '43' is the tube size in centimeters.
Therefore 43 cm = 16.9291" (ie a 17" tube)

If you go looking for a replacement tube then you want to match that 43 number AND also look up the CR# for both the old tube and the new tube to make sure they are compatible.
The A43JBE50X is a CR23 socket, so your donor tube would also need to be a CR23 socket.

But like others have said, I doubt the tube is the problem.
(I'm guessing the monitor just acts dead ?)

370 is a different number than the mm sizes used with the A48's, etc. That's why it doesn't say A370...
