Any suggestions on what I should use to protect my Autographed Control Panel? It did not get signed in a low traffic area as planned. We were thinking a plexi, but I dont want to drill any extra holes in the panel.

Is that one the I sold you ? I want it back !

No its my other CP, I did get the Marquee off the machine that I got from you Autographed too. I will take a picture of that. It will be fine since no one will be touching the marquee:cool:

Couldn't you use one of the spray acrylics (triple thick, or something like that?) that are used to preserve bezels?

I wouldn't. Some times car guys get radiator core or the underside of their hood signed by "someone". I have seen the question come up. The issue is that the paint pens etc.. my run as the protective coating drys. Its a crap shoot depending on what's in the ink and what's in what you have to cover it.

I would cut a piece of plex to fit the square of the panel. Drill the holes used to hold in the spinner, drill the button holes, drill the holes for the bolts up in the corner. For home use its more than enough to hold on.

I have done it several times. I generally use the stripped CP as a guide. I would take the other CP you have, strip the controls, then overlay it with wide painters tape to keep it from getting scratched. Lay the plex on it, then tape it in place. Drill the holes from the back side using the holes in the panel and a guide. I put a scrap piece of plex under the point I am drilling the stack it all on a piece of wood. The bit will not explode out of the piece you are making up as it will simply pass into the scrap. Practice on some scrap pieces to get your technique. For carriage bolt either over drill the hole or chanfer it so the color under the head has a place to rest. If you don't it will crack out as you tighten it down.

Like this Idea. Do you think it would be secure enough? I will need longer buttons.

I collect autographs as well and depending on what is in the spray it could dissolve the paint. Paint pens and silver Sharpies have been known to do this.

I like this idea as well. But if there is any rubbing of the plex and the autos it could make them rub off.

6 bolts and 6 buttons. I say its not going anywhere. Give the leading edge is a bit wide from edge to the controls that would be the worst place..but at home....

For leaf switch buttons I have just had to readjust the leafs a tad. Never had to replace any.

That is so cool, I would like to get this done to some of my Star Trek games.
Now you need to get William Shantner to sign it :D
I agree, put a pice of plexi or lexon over the top.

Not going to cover the Marquee since no hands should be on it.

I could be wrong but the Welcome aboard captain at the top of the marquee will be partly covered by the top bracket. You might be able to cut the bracket or find a different shorter type that might work better.

yes your correct the signing did not go as expected, None of my stuff was signed where we accually wanted it. A special bracket had to be made.

Put another cp on your game and hang this one on the wall. Very cool.
