What should I offer for the internals of a Contra Arcade

I am to pick up a Jamma Contra PCB later today that someone is going to mame the cabinet.
He mentioned that the board initially doesn't work.
How hard is a Contra board to fix and what do you think I should offer for that and all of the internal wiring?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Seems odd they'd sell the wiring if they're MAME'ing it as usually one keeps the JAMMA harness and buys a JAMMA to PC connector. Anyhow, I wouldn't say much at all really, you've got a broken PCB, the PSU, and a JAMMA harness, maybe $60 tops?

Most people don't actually do that. Using PC monitors is really the most common thing done, particularly by builders who don't also work on real games. I always saw 10 or more projects on the BYOAC forums that used VGA monitors for every one I saw that went the Jamma route.

$20 tops. Jamma era hardware is much more difficult to repair than older stuff is, and pile of hacked up wires from a conversion cabinet doesn't have any real value when you can buy a brand new jamma harness for $10.

I'm sorry.
It's not necessarily a total Mame.
He's putting a PC in the game and wiring it up through the PC.
What do you think the board is going to cost to fix?
And I apologixe now that not having the board in front of me, I'm not really sure what the ussues with the board could be.

Well, that's disappointing. I'd think if they were going to do something they'd do it right. Guess I over-shot a bit on the price, heh.

If you can't repair the board yourself it will cost as much as it is worth to fix (if you can even find someone to do it at all). I originally said it would cost multiples of what it was worth, but apparently Contra went from being a $20 board to a $100 board sometime in the last 10 years when I wasn't looking.

It is also likely that the issue with the board is that the power supply is bad or maladjusted.

Ya actually talking with the guy I was wrong with what I'll be getting.
This is the list of what I will be getting for $50.
List includes:
The board (not-working)
All of the wiring
The monitor (working)
All of the power block (transformers, power supply)

The only thing he wants to keep is the coin door.

Not bad, you get a monitor, maybe the board will work in a cabinet with the power supply properly adjusted, if not, well then you still have the monitor. The wiring and transformers, etc aren't really worth anything (parts outs crap that sort of stuff out all the time and almost no one ever needs it).
