What should I keep, What should I restore, What should I throw away
A few of you from the northwest know of my recent situation. For the rest I'll give a quick history then move into the question
On Sept 5, 2010 a accidental fire happened at my house. most of the top floor was destroyed or damaged beyond repair. The lower floor survived the fire but the damage from the water and smoke took almost everything else.
They are trying to salvage 3 pieces of furniture out of the entire house.
Three of my games were set up inside the house. (Those were Waterworld, Super Mario Brothers, and a kids touch screen game.)
In my garage The rest of my games were still wrapped in plastic from the NW Pinball and Gameroom show. (Mousin Around, Timber, Burgertime, Championship Sprint, A football game, Ms Pac, and 2 Touchmasters)
We removed all of the games from inside of the house the very next day. Unfortunatly with nowhere to store them they have been sitting under tarps under my deck. The deck is a solid surface but they are still exposed to the wind and weather when the wind blows the tarps off.
I am getting ready to move them to my rental house and start figuring out what to keep and what to get rid of.
I know that Timber is a total loss when it comes to the cabinet. It has already swelled to close to twice its normal size. The touchmasters already have mold growing out from around the tmolding.
My quesion is what should I try and salvage? I want to rebuild Timber but can't find the thread where a person had made the new side art. If anyone has that it would be great. Also if anyone has a line on someone who could reproduce the cabinet or who has accurate plans that I could use to build a reproduction.
The Super Mario had a waterfall hitting right on the top when I walked in the house right after the fire. The Waterworld looked dry until I opened the coin door and there was about a 12" in diameter wet spot on the botom of the cabinet.
Do I need to worry about playfields warping? Should I just scrap all the games, take the insurance money and try and find new ones? Or should I keep them and try and salvage parts and rebuild
