What price do you guys pay for a replacement piece of Monitor glass?

a buddy of mine and myself were thinking of going in on some glass for our machines (he was looking at 2 sheets for his pins) and i was looking at 2 sheets for my vids.

he got a price quote for all 4 pieces and i figure my 2 small pieces equal 1 of his so i divided by 3.

This is the quote he got back:

The price for the following pieces of glass is as follows:

· 2 – 21" x 43"

· 1 - 26 ½" x 24 15/16"

· 1 – 26 ½" x 25"

3/16" Clear Tempered glass - $148.00
1/8" Clear laminated glass - $168.00

thoughts?

(the way i break it down $60 should cover my two sheets)

i doubt i'm overpaying but i figured i'd get some other idea's of what people are paying.

we usually pay around $25 +/- for a sheet of clear tempered 3/16" pinball glass (taxes not included) it would be slightly higher for the monitor bezels since i would have the edges polished on those.

your 2 sheets are more glass than 1 of his. Plus I am sure most of the cost is in cutting them to size, not how much glass is used. I would think a more accurate split of cost is 60/40. And if your monitor glass needs added prep (rounded or polished edges), then yours might be more expensive.

there was no mention of rounded/polished/sealed edges so that cost wasn't even factored in. Honestly i didn't really think of that (figured the tempering would cover that, tho i should know better).

true my 2 pieces together are larger than his 1 piece but not both his pieces combined hence my 33/66 split (tho i would be fine with 40/60 as that's an additional $8). there are no extra cuts being made to make mine than there are his tho (and yes i'm sure that is what they base the price on) so that shouldn't bring mine up to the price of his (unless i was getting the edges done like you said)

Regardless i see betson sells pin glass for $28 (i told him he might want to find somewhere else to go)

your missing a point on your 2 pieces and his 2 pieces. Both are probably cut from a larger piece before being tempered. So it probably takes the person the same ammount of time to cut 2 small ones as it takes to cut 2 bigger ones. I would bet the price is not $10 for 20x40 and $20 40x40. Its probably more like $18 for $40x40.

no i see your point, it's a silly way to do it but i understand.

regardless i'm not paying that price for basic tempered glass.

to be honest my pieces probably take less time to cut but w/e
