With all this talk about Steve Ritchie joining Stern and the wonderful thread about 'What would you want Stern to make?', I think it's time to talk about JJP and what they should make.
From my limited understanding, JJP is more willing to make non-licensed themes, so some of the suggestions from the Stern thread (like making one about trains, which I think would be awesome to attract young boys to pinball), seems like it's more likely for JJP.
However, JJP also wants to make more complex games with deeper rule sets, so maybe they wouldn't want to make a game aimed at kids? Or can it do both?
Anyway, I'm excited about WOZ and excited that Stern hired Ritchie and let's hope that we get some really fun and collectible pins made in the next few years.
My pinball theme suggestions:
* The trains idea is really good. +1 on that
* Commodities/Stock Trading. You could do something to be offered a trade and you have 1 second to hit that target but then it's sold. You would buy and hold positions (by spending points) and decide if you want to sell them or not (like the roulette in Who Dunnit) and the prices keep getting better, but if you end the game, you can't sell them (worth 0). So, how far do you push it??? The big multi-ball at the end would be a big market correction or huge bailout. Also, trading firms have a lot of money and nice game rooms and they'd all want one.
* Pinball Designers! How about a machine that has like 300 easter eggs in it and you have to get as many famous designers to design your pin or come to your pinball conference or something. Some theme that celebrates and recognizes the designers and puts their faces and voices on the game (all wearing DOHO shirts and riding cows.)
* Evil Mad Scientist. You want to take over the world (i'm tired of always SAVING the world in games!), so the modes are "building a earthquake/hurricane machine" (pin will need shaker motor), "unleashing super hackers" (crazy stuff happens on the DMD), "shut down the grid" sections of lighting get shut down on the playfield), etc. The backglass is a world map that changes colors (Red, Yellow, Green) for each region/continent that you're affecting and hurting (say shutting down the grid hits Europe harder than Africa).
Ok, what are you ideas?

Anything Zombie is hot right now
ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE theme for a non-licensed
DAWN of the DEAD theme for a licensed
or perhaps
The Walking Dead ? for licensed pin
I'm no pin designer, but I think an amusement park themed pin would be pretty cool.
Yeah, it does look like fun but, unfortunately, Mr Pinball 2011 suggests that less than 350 were made.Wow, that looks really fun. Anyone actually OWN that pin?
