Once you got it home?

For me it was my cyclone and then
My scared stiff.

Cyclone because the restoration on it was such a pain in the ass that once I was done I could barely look at it! Plus it played so slow....

Scared stiff because it was my first 'A' title and although fun, it wasn't 3 'B' titles worth fun.

Well, I didn't get it home because it disappointed me. The game is Haunted House.
It was so much better in my memory than in reality... As crazy as it sounds, I'd still consider it someday because I love the art so much and consider it kind of an iconic pin.

Just need to have a few more of the games I really love first.

For me it was Creature from the Black Lagoon. Loved the art, the theme, and even after the first 50 plays the music wasn't that bad. But the gameplay got old fast (spell FILM, find the Creature, rinse and repeat). Not to mention the upper playfield being hidden really started to bug me. Sold it off, was able to find an AFM to replace it.

Doctor Who.

Although I'm a lifelong geek (and Anglophile), I have never gotten into the Doctor Who TV series, so I knew the game's theme would be fairly lost on me. However, you always hear such good things about the pin's gameplay, I figured that would make up for it. But no...the gameplay left me totally indifferent.

Couple that with a theme I couldn't really appreciate, and the annoying low-fi SCREAMS of that F'n Dalek, and you've got a pin I couldn't wait to get rid of.

Addams Family and TZ.

After going back to them, I don't remember either one being as basic as they really are, and to boot, I didn't even like them back in the day! If I had to pick one, I'd keep TZ and boot Addams Drain Family. I've never understood the extreme appeal of these two games and probably never will.

*Edit* Didn't read the first post enough lol... I've never owned these, but definately played them BITD in arcades enough to know that I compeltely despise both machines...or used to. If I get a chance to play them in person again, I will try, because things do change, but..meh.

Bally Vector.
Horseshit game.
only pin I've sold....and no regrets!

Hmmmm

Good question.

I don't think I have ever regretted a pin purchase.

That said, I was most disappointed with my Hyperball. Not because I did not lobe it, but because I could not keep it running. Was not sad to see it go, even with the $400 hit I took on it :(

I've had a few over the years. The worst ones for me were Xenon, Black Knight and Gorgar. I have fond memories of playing the games when they were new and enjoying them. I picked them up as projects, got them working and was promptly disappointed when I played them.

Got to say it was the first pin I ever bought, Alien Poker. This was one of my favorite games back in the day (played it daily at an arcade by my house), but when I bought one 20+ years later it was not as fun as I remember. I guess that the 90's pins with all the things going on (ramps, multi-ball, toys, etc...), are what hold my interest now.

I still have it in my collection, but cannot say that it has been played by anyone in almost a year. One of these days, I should really get rid of it and replace it with another 90's project game.

Ironically enough, the game that has disappointed me the most was Whitewater. I love the playfield design but I think the software is lame and unfinished. The linear nature of the game means you have to play a long time to get to the exciting parts, and it's lots of repetition, shot A, then shoot B, then shoot C. wash. rinse. repeat.

I don't find Wh20 to be any more repetitive than the majority of DMD pins out there. In fact, I'd say that it is less repetitive than many of them.

I've never been really disappointed in any pin that I've brought home, but the pin that I was the most let down by....by far (because I love the theme and it is so highly rated) was TSPP. Ugh.

Monster Bash- cool looking but waaaaay too easy.

Cactus Canyon - see above

Pirates of the Cariboring - slow ass game, waiting around for the ball to come back - zero flow and fake jack voice

Jungle Lord - great art and shots but the sound fx weren't even remotely jungle-ish and like fingernails on chalk board

Creature ftbl - gorgeous art, awesome shots, stupid 50's happy days music killed it for me

Simpsons party - tried so hard to like this one, owned it 3 times but still has no staying power, too much stop and go but more stop than go

Cirqus Voltaire - super gay theme, awesome shots and flow, horrible modes especially vid mode and cannon ball, ring master is awesome concept but his 5 sayings get old real fast

DE Star wars, bitchen theme, lame game play

Theater of magic- see above, plus super easy

Tales of the Arabian knights - gorgeous art package, sweet ramp, awesome ball trap and magnets, decent sound but very easy to beat the game

There's more but I can't think of any at the moment
