I went to the usual web pages and I was looking for a cap kit and I am not seeing anything for a 5603 (no 5600 series) and no pointer that it is the same as another type of monitor... Do I just need to go through it manually and determine what I need? Can anyone point me to maybe a schematic of a 5603 that might make my buying these parts easier? Has anyone gone through this and have some pointers?

I've never heard of a model series 5600. There is a 5500 series that's simply a medium res version of the 4900 series. Can you post a picture of the circuit board?

Pictures to follow when I get home. Is there a place on the circuit board I should be checking and not on the metal casing? I have been getting the modle numbers off the metal casings. Will those sometimes be wrong? Please let me know the best spot to identify the type.

Expect pictures about 8pm est.

Hmm... I think I have one of these too (13" though)... I believe it's the same chassis as the k4900, I haven't done the cap kit yet, and haven't really checked closely, but when I was ordering I looked at the chassis of that and the k4900 and I think they looked the same. I can let you know when I get home though, since I've got a few 4900's to compare it to. I did ask Bob Roberts, and he said that he wasn't sure about it, but guessed it was probably a 4900.

I usually just cap my monitors manually. I have capped like 9 monitors and only bought 3 kits.

After seeing the pictures I can confirm you need the 4900 series capkit. You have a medium res version of the 4900.

Thanks. Ordered it just a minute ago. Hopefully this one removes easier than the last one because this is on a vertical mount and it looks alot harder to remove than the last one that was just "sitting on a shelf".

Heh, just so you know, mine is a 13k5800, not the k5600, but it is the same chassis as my k4900, and it's probably just the 13" of the k5600, like the k4700 is the 13" of the k4600.
