I know of a few early Nintendo titles that came in cabaret form, Space Demon and Donkey Kong, but what game after DK would have been cool in cabaret form? I am scratch building 3 Nintendo cabarets using an original as a template and am trying to decide on the titles I am gonna go with. I was gonna do a DK, then thought, why? It's already been done. So I think my first will be a DKJR, but am still debating on the other 2.

Popeye?
SMB?
Mario Bros?
DK3?
Vs. Castlevania?
Vs. Iceclimber?

What do you think?

Just a thought but why not use a newer game like the latest Mario Bros on Wii? Or something from the Gamecube era.

Another option would be a multi nintendo with every game they have ever made.

I'm talking from the classic era. I am not into the newer stuff as much. Were Gamecubes in arcades?

Might be cool to set it up with a Vs. control panel, but run an emulator with a front end. If you were gonna go all original equipment, a popeye would be cool in my opinion.

DK Jr., DK 3 and SMB. I'd avoid any of the titles where 2 players play simultaneously due to space limitations.

Yeah I thought of that as well, I'd probably use the same cab profile and just widen it for the 2 play simo games. No Popeye love from you? I am shocked. The way you talk that game up I figured it would be at the top of your list.

I don't think they were. There were a couple of decent Mario themed games on Gamecube. I think Smash Bros was the biggest selling game for that particular platform.

PS2 blew this system out of the water, though, in terms of popularity and sales.

I still think if you are making multiples of these that a computer based Nintendo multi-game system would be cool to try, and there is actually a market for the machine - it's something you could make money selling. It's a cabaret that does not take up a lot of space, and Nintendo games have a broad appeal. Just think about all the crappy home use Midway multi-cabinets that were sold, and those machines are junk.

Super Mario Brothers, for sure! It would be GREAT for the kids in a mini.

Distant 2nd: Punch Out.

How would you use this cab style/height and still get the 2 monitors in there? One of them would have to point directly at your gedengis. (Sounds like when Fritz and Sav go for an afternoon stroll).

Distant 2nd: Punch Out.

Punch-Out!! would've made a great mini for operators who didn't want to deal with the original beast. Two 13" monitors would've done the trick, or even a consolidation down to one. No one complained about playing Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! on a single, 13" screen back in the day.

My vote for something that'd fit the traditional Nintendo mini cab: Radarscope.

There wasn't a Jr.? I saw a Jr. cabaret back in August. Star Worlds Arcade had it. So I'm guessing it's not original?

Well, if you can find me a flyer with a pic of one on it, I'd believe you and say it was factory. I don't know WHY there weren't any DKJR or Popeye cabarets, but maybe by 1982 Nintendo had scrapped the whole cabaret idea.

I would say DKJR, DK3, and Popeye. I think a widebody cabaret would look rediculous and be tedious for two player simo gameplay. Maybe DKJR, DK3, and R-Type??? I'd be stoked for that too.

Ahahaha. I thought it was Popeye the Sailor, not Popeye the Valentine Collecting Sissy. I must admit when I first read this I was sure I could come up with a "diamond in the rough" option here, something that should be obvious that we were missing. I could not. Having the DK series in cabaret would be cool. How about a DIIK cabaret?

Ooooooooooh, I like that. I smell a Rikitiki project coming up.....

How about Double DK? Multi-Kong. Everyone wins.
