I want to prep my control panel which is wood for a CPO. What paint would you guys suggest?

Thanks!

I used semi gloss black for mine, but use another color if black isn't right for yours.
Prime and paint then apply cpo to clean surface.

If you can afford the time, use oil based paint - black. Semi or high gloss. Get as smooth a surface as possible. The glossier it is the longer it takes to cure, generally.

Latex is essentially, after it dries, a thin layer of rubber which CAN peel a lot easier than oil based paint which tends to penetrate a lot better.

No spray paint, avoid latex if you can, and as the prior poster said, clean, clean, clean.

What do you mean"no spray paint"? I used oil based spray paint for my wood cp and had no problems at all. I agree no latex.
