I'm starting to look around at hvlp paint sprayers and man there are alot of them. I'm looking for something I could paint cab's with (oil based) and other home/hobby projects which would require latex paint too. I have a fairly large compressor setup, so I just need a gun and regulator.

I just wanted to see what others here use or have used. I recently restored a 60's metal desk and did it with Rustoleum rattle cans. This is what got me looking for a paint sprayer because doing a surface as large as it made getting even coverage a pain, and I went through alot of cans!

Do you have a Harbor Freight local to you? They sell a lot of crap (just about anything with an electric motor), but the air tools can be a good value. You can get a heck of an HVLP paint gun for under $50. The paint guns seems to be made fairly well and are cheap enough that you don't have to invest a lot in the tool.

Unfortunatly no. I am however close to a Lowes and Home Depot. I am also a Amazon Prime member, so shipping on alot of thier sprayers is free for me.

I use a Phantom stock class pump paint gun ..ohhh wait, no balls.

I've only used a roller. But I'm looking forward to spraying one of the cabinets shortly, using a friend's so I'm not sure what brand name it is yet.

I bought an HVLP sprayer from Harbor Freight. I got it home, hooked it up and tried to paint. Nothing came out of the gun. I took it apart and found the gun already clogged with what appeared to be dried paint. The box the sprayer came in appeared to be factory sealed. It was the biggest piece of @$!@ I've ever purchased. Your mileage may vary. There's a reason the stuff is cheap.

i have a couple harbor freight ones and a devilbiss(youll find that at home depot)

whatever you get make sure its at least gravity feed( tank on top of the gun)..

i honestly prefer the harbor frieght guns to the devilbiss, and the harbor frieght ones were cheaper!

I purchased this set last night: http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Tool...1KKG/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1301019761&sr=8-8

Came out to about $87 bucks total, but it ships with a few extras. I have also read that others on the forum have used the manufacture's HVLP guns with great success (TCP GLOBAL CORP.).

edit: here's a nice recommendation - http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=133687&highlight=tcp+global

The TCP Global guns are great and the tip and needle are interchangeable so no need to buy multiple guns.

That is what I just bought at Harbor Freight...it cost me a whole $15! haha. There was a couple guys there looking at other air tools and they both own this gun and say they've had very good results for it, I was weary because of the cost, but hey, it's cheap enough to gamble 15 bucks.

Most cheap guns like those will do an adequate job for what we need them to do.
I went with the TCP gun because it has a superior tip that has the proper baffle with multiple air holes to properly atomize the paint.
Parts are also easily available to rebuild the gun if needed.
