What kind of monitor do I have?

I've been debating whether or not to get rid of Rastan Saga and put a Track and Field back where it originally was. The monitor seems to work fine, I was just wondering if someone could tell me a little about the particular model that I have.

Is there anything I should do to it if it's working, or should I just leave well enough alone?

It is a WG 4900 series monitor. They are robust, usually the only problems I come across on these models are failing lytics (fix with a cap kit) and cold solder joints. As long as it is working right now I wouldn't bother changing anything.

looks very clean too. Oryk, is the 4900 better than the 4600? like does this one have the riser cards and such? (can't tell from the pic)

couldn't agree more, looks almost new.

Riser card? don't think so.

thank you for the history lesson, Broods. then it's the 4600 that's the overly complicated and ridiculous design. :D

the vectors are the same yeah?

4900 for the win.

4900 over the 4600 for the win.

4600 = target practice for the win.

all around a win win.

if you need any parts for the rebuild like a cap kit i have them.
or if you need it rebuilt i can do it for you.

I hate the 4600, in fact I'll take a Matsushitsa over a 4600 any day of the week. They are both a pain int the ass to work on but the Matsishitsa doesn't have cards that walk out and it looks much better once dialed in. My personal ranking of raster color monitors is this:

K7000 - most universal, they range from 9" to 27" and come standard and medium res, easy to work on.
4900 - only 19" and 25" but also std and med res. Easier to work on than the 7000 in my opinion.
G07 -Easy to work on but delicate boards, must be careful when shipping.
Sanyo - beautiful pic, something of a pain to work on.
Everything else that is documented.
4600
Undocumented monitors.

I will take any 4600 you all do not want. :)

Somewhat a pain to work on compared to, say, a GO7, but I think they give the best pic. If its a keeper game for me, and it needs a monitor, I will build a 4600 every time.

I give my spare 4600's to Dokert.

I am pretty sure I have one in my Crazy Kong, and a 4700 in my Qix cocktail but those are the only examples I still have.
