What kind of ISO is this?

Looking to get the pinout on this ISO for powering a jamma conversion from a cocktail... any assistance here is appreciated.

Also, since I am still rather new to this, why would someone tap 120v off the ISO monitor connection to power the switcher and is this normal?

Does it have something to do with the lack of a fuse power distribution outside of the simple fuse feeding the ISO supply leg?

Lastly, what is with the pin sticking out of the connector on the top left of the picture?

Those are all very good questions. Let us know when you find out.....

Seriously though, my guess on a couple of them:
1) the operator that tapped the isolated side of the transformer either did it:
(a) out of ignorance
(b) saved 3" of wire
(c) thought it was safer
(d) couldn't get the tap around the little stub of wire between the fuse and the transformer.
(2) the pin sticking out was probably done to power some exotic add on device

Pin is out...

I powered the rig after soldering on the new power cable. Always sadistically curious on first power up... I'm still here... ;)

Perhaps it was indeed laziness in that they didn't want to solder the switcher power to the distribution... I likely will do that now... unless anyone objects? :)

I will say that when I purchased my very first arcade part from Arcadeshop.com which happened to be a JOUST SWITCHER KIT, the kit comes with those blue tap things and instructions to tap in to the power AFTER the ISO between the ISO and the monitor.

The transformer assembly is definitely out of a Stern "SCRAMBLE" game. Notice the "16D-11" Stern part number on the transformer. The wiring _of_ this transformer is in the Scramble manual.

The basic AC power wiring pinout _to_ this assembly is shown in the Stern "Tutankham" manual.

The switching power supply should NEVER be connected across the output of the isolation transformer. It should be connected across the input of the transformer.

Ken, if at all possible, I'm going to buy you a beer.

This setup was a Pinbo conversion to a Scramble - but I had no indication that any of the parts were "stock". Now to source a manual...

Well done man!

Thanks Ken, I didn't want to say it quite that strongly, but that is exactly what I was hinting at.

Go ahead and pull those vampire taps (don't forget to tape or heat shrink some insulation over the bare wires the taps leave behind) or just replace the wiring (my first choice).
