Can anyone help me identify this joystick? Starting on a restore and I need a second.

Thanks
Brian

Atari logo microswitch stick.

There are leaf and micro versions. Not sure how much the parts are interchangeable, but they probably mostly are, if I had to guess. However they're often ground to death inside, due to lack of lubrication over time. The plastic bushings just grind themselves to dust.

Leaf and micro are same parts, the bottom housing has screw holes for either.

Why does it have studs running down to the spider (4/8-way restrictor) though? IIRC that is only normal on an Assault stick.

Ha. Yeah, I thought something didn't look quite right with that. But I didn't have one on hand to compare. But you're right.

Brian, what game is this for?

It is for a Street Fighter 1 dedicated.

I had not seen the lower portion of the assembly before, but honestly, I have never been that particular on joystick bases. I usually only focus on the type to match (leaf / microswitch, 4/8) and the height and top are ok (ball vs bat).

Street Fighter 1 is notoriously difficult for pulling off the special moves, and the circular base may be a significant help in the process. My issue is that I don't know if it was used in any other games and where I can find an additional joystick..... or even what search terms to use to try and find one.

Thank you
Brian

Can you post pics of the cab? And the top of that joystick, too?

I'm a little curious as to why that looks like a logo stick base. However, Atari was involved in making a deluxe version of the SF cab, so maybe there was collaboration there for the original SF dedicateds(?) See here:

I'd also be interested to see anyone else with this type of stick in their SF (i.e., were they the standard and only ones used?)

I will when I get home tonight.

yeah, Atari designed and built the original SF cab for capcom. Thats why there are logo sticks on the machine.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing that these got replaced on SF1 cabs a lot. These sticks are not ideal for this type of game (probably don't last long either).

Brought it "into the light" for the first time and it is an Atari stick. I should look more closely before posting. Pictures attached.

I had a SF1 cab, but mine had run of the mill bat sticks and not Atari logo sticks. I wish I hadn't sold this as no doubt I'll never find another (let alone this nice).
